POSITION SUMMARY:

We are currently recruiting a Math Instructor. This full-time position pays $33.65 an hour and is located in Brooklyn, New York 11205.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and enhance math curriculum materials, lesson plans, and activities aligned with state educational standards and participant learning needs.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive math instruction using diverse teaching methodologies to support various learning styles and abilities.
  • Reinforce mathematical concepts ranging from basic arithmetic to advanced algebra, geometry, and related topics.
  • Create and administer assessments, quizzes, and exams to evaluate participant understanding and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Provide individualized support by identifying participant strengths and areas for improvement and offering targeted instruction.
  • Maintain a structured and positive classroom environment that encourages respect, participation, and collaboration.
  • Integrate technology and educational tools into instruction to enhance learning and build digital competencies.
  • Track and maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and participant progress; communicate updates to program leadership and support staff.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently; must be self-motivated.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word.
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.

Education and Experience:

  • New York State Math Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior teaching, tutoring, or instructional experience in mathematics preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations or workforce development programs is a plus.
  • High School diploma required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm; however evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • Travel may be required.
