Job Summary (Purpose and Function):
At Bascom Palmer, we regard the education of our ophthalmology residents and fellows as one of our highest priorities. This tradition of excellence has been instrumental in earning the Institute world recognition as a premier teaching, research, and patient care facility. The Institute serves as the Department of Ophthalmology for Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The Institute is ranked the #1 eye hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and the residency program has been ranked best in the nation by Ophthalmology Times and by Doximity.com, the largest online physician network.
The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami School of Medicine seeks a Clinical Instructor. Main responsibilities include extensive direct patient care, night and weekend on-call, and staffing the residents in the clinics and operating room. The Instructor will assist in teaching and training residents in an Ophthalmic Training Program. Must excel in teaching and be willing to assume appropriate administrative responsibilities. Candidate must have an M.D. degree and accredited residency-training program in ophthalmology in the U.S. Candidates should be board certified or board eligible and hold a valid and unrestricted State of Florida Medical License or Medical Faculty Certificate.

Supervision Exercised:
Clinical Instructors are required to supervise and train junior residents and students in clinical tasks.
Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements):

  • State of Florida Medical Licensure
  • DEA Certification
