About This Role

Wee Know School is a Nationally Accredited and 5 Star YoungStar center. We are looking for a compassionate, outgoing and dedicated individual for an assistant teacher position. Our school provides care for children ages 2 1/2 yrs. through 4K during the school year (Sept. - May), and to children 3 yrs. through 3rd grade bound in the summer. Children are placed in one classroom with a teaching team for the entire school year. This allows our teachers to follow each child's development throughout the year, and children are with their peer group. Candidate hired must provide the children with a safe, loving and nurturing environment. Assistant teachers support lead teachers in the preparation of lesson plans, implementation of plan including preparation, set-up, and clean-up, maintaining individual child portfolios (observations, portfolio entries, evidence of activities reflecting developmental growth, etc.) and sharing observations with lead teacher to maintain a cohesive teaching team. Engagement with children is important. Working with individual, small and large groups is part of the daily routine. What You'll Do
  • Work with Lead teacher as a team.
  • Provide comfort, encouragement and support to all children.
  • Assist in the implementation of daily activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities, maintain a clean environment.
  • Assist with weekly lesson planning and gathering or preparing of materials needed for center activities.
  • Carry out appropriate and positive discipline as established by lead teacher
  • Ensure program goals are being implemented
  • Assist in maintaining portfolios for each child with antidotal notes, pictures, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining safe, engaging, and stimulating environment
  • Be sensitive and responsive to parents.
  • Fulfil yearly Continuing Education requirement
  • Must be flexible to work in more than one classroom if needed.

Requirements
  • Minimum of certification or training in early childhood or related field or higher education
  • Minimum of 1 year child care experience
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of emotional maturity and stability, and good judgement
  • Ability to be flexible and able to adjust to program plan to best benefit children
  • Ability to communicate with parents in a positive manner
  • Must clear full background check, fingerprinting, and health check as required by St. of WI
  • Have physical stamina to perform duties required
  • Maintain yearly Continuing Education required
