Teacher - Full Time/Part-Year
Job Location: Van Wert
Position Type: Hourly
$15.29 - $21.87 Hourly. Wages are based on education; a minimum of a high school education or equivalent is required. CORS pays for educational advancement for motivated individuals with a heart for service.
Description: Collaborate with the Early Childhood Service Coordinator, Head Teacher, Family Advocate, and families, to plan and implement the Head Start educational program for preschool children to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. We are a highly-rated Step-Up-To-Quality organization gifted with a generous professional development budget and invite you to grow professionally and personally using the many resources available through the Head Start program.
  • Team with the Head Teacher with daily operations in the center classroom working with both children and parents. This will include, but is not limited to, preparation of the learning environment and gathering necessary materials, the daily routine, small and large group times, outdoor time, and mealtime activities.
  • Ensure the safety of all children by assuring proper supervision of the children at all times and a safe, healthy, sanitary, and organized learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the Head Teacher in developing and implementing activities and experiences that promote the children's interests, individualization and skill building in all developmental domains.
  • Assist in completion of developmental screenings of all children.
  • Support the efforts of the center team in planning and implementing family engagement and male involvement activities throughout the program year.
  • When requested by supervisor and as part of professional development, complete home visits, plans and parent/teacher conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Education and Training: High school diploma or GED with a CDA or equivalent; or agree to be enrolled in a CORS approved and paid accredited Child Development (CDA) program and achieve completion of CDA program within two years of start date. Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  2. Work Experience Required: None.
  3. Special Conditions: Ability to lift 40 pounds, stoop, bend, and reach. A valid driver's license and a driving history acceptable to agency insurer. Involves extensive organizing, problem solving, record keeping, and time management.
