The Pilates School SF is now accepting applications for our upcoming cohort, beginning July 15th to August 31st 2026. We are seeking 65 passionate individuals for this 2,100-hour, hands-on, and highly structured training program. To ensure accessibility, 50% of this certification is available through scholarships for qualified applicants, and approximately 45% offers paid internship opportunities for eligible students. These resources are designed to help subsidize your cost of living and tuition.

Program Overview:
Our WASC-accredited program is committed to fostering an inclusive and empowering community. We strive to provide unparalleled training opportunities, with a special focus on supporting BIPOC and LGBTQIA individuals. Our curriculum is designed to develop a deep, authentic skill set in Classical Pilates, preparing you for a rewarding career with competitive earning potential (graduates often secure positions at $65.00 - $75.00 per hour).

Scholarship Opportunities:
We are dedicated to making this transformative journey accessible to all.

  • Availability: We have 65 total slots in our internship program this year (Fall/ Spring combined). 25% of highly qualified applicants will be considered for full scholarships for the Pre-Pilates and Basic Coursework; these 25 teacher-in-training will (while maintaining a 3.5 GPA) also receive a work-study position to offset the cost of training AND help cover living expenses while completing the second 1/2 of the coursework. An additional 35 positions will include paid internships for the Intermediate I and II coursework; and 20 positions will include a work-study mentorship post-graduation. Awards are assigned based on financial need, meeting scholarship criteria, and academic merit, then on a first-come, first-served basis.

Qualifications:
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in exercise science, education, fitness, or a health-related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in education, fitness, or health is highly preferred. Experience in Classical Pilates is a plus, but not required.
  • Certifications: CPR certification is required within 60 days of acceptance to the program (please confirm your current status).

Program Commitment:
This is a rigorous 2,100-hour commitment involving coursework, observation, practice teaching, self-mastery, and examinations. Trainees must maintain a minimum B+ grade, attend all scheduled in-person learning sessions (minimum of 12 hours of studio time for full-time students, 6 hours for part-time), and adhere to all school conduct and attire policies.

How to Apply:
We are selecting 65 teacher-trainees for our full-time and part-time tracks. 
To apply, please complete the following:

  1. Submit Your Resume: Provide your Pilates/fitness resume detailing your education, training, and health science certifications. If you do not have fitness experience, please submit a 500-word letter explaining why you would be a strong candidate.
  2. Confirm CPR/AED Status: State whether you currently hold a valid CPR/AED card. If you do not, you must get one within 60 days if accepted into the program.
  3. Assessment: Attend a free group class at the Geary Studio so we may assess your Pilates readiness.

Selection Process:
Participants will be selected based on the following criteria:
  1. Physical readiness: Evaluated in a group class by a Pilates School Teacher.
  2. Personal characteristics: We seek caring, empathetic educators with the emotional intelligence to foster a supportive and reciprocal learning environment.
  3. Work history: Positive recommendations regarding your work ethic and performance from your previous three employers.
  4. Financial need: Awards are assigned based on financial need. Income verification is required for financial assistance (including 3 copies of recent pay stubs, proof of government assistance, and copies of the past 3 recent utility bills/expenses).
  5. Confirm attend Teacher-in-Training Orientation on Friday, September 18th, at 3502 Geary Blvd, 3rd floor Studio for the Fall Teacher-in-Training Orientation (in-person) from 5:30 pm–8:30 pm. This meeting is mandatory for all applicants.
