Job description

Summary:

An Assistant Teacher's primary responsibility is to assist and support the evolving needs of the Preschool.
Preschool needs include but are not limited to: assisting Lead Teachers, helping with meal time procedures, performing light housekeeping and sanitation duties, providing lunch coverage, and acting as a substitute to cover teacher absences. Assistant Teacher’s assist where needed to ensure FCA Preschool maintains a Christian atmosphere where students are loved, nourished, developmentally encouraged, and expertly cared for throughout each day.


*Job Duties and Responsibilities:*

  • Help Lead Teachers maintain order during classroom time, transition times, meal times, and while on the playground.
  • Help keep babies and children clean at all times (face, nose, hands, clothes, diaper, etc.).
  • Assist with diapering and potty time.
  • Help plate and serve meals/snacks.
  • Help maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties in accordance with regulations and policies: vacuuming, disinfecting areas occupied by children,  sanitizing dishes after meals, cleaning eating areas after meals and snacks, laundering bibs and nap time items.
  • Maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers and parents.
  • Provide lunch coverage for classroom teachers.
  • Act as a substitute to cover teacher absences.
  • Assist when emergency evacuation procedures are conducted, efficiently and according to licensing regulations.
  • Adhere to Preschool policies and licensing regulations (Dept. of Health and Hospitals, Dept. of Education, and Fire Marshal).
  • Attend all training courses required by licensing regulations (Dept. of Health and Hospitals, Dept. of Education, and Fire Marshal).

Requirements:

  • The complex nature of the Assistant Teacher position requires that those in this position are flexible, energetic, hardworking                      self-starters with the ability to see a need and fill that need.
  • Previous experience within a childcare setting is preferred.
  • Minimum physical requirements include, but are not limited to: lifting babies and young children, bending, squatting, pushing buggies, and standing/working on your feet for long periods at a time


Please Note: Pay rate is based upon experience. Rate per hour listed is the starting pay for this position.
