Job description

Overview
LifeWise Secondary Education teachers will demonstrate in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities for students in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, committed and proficient in teaching. Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience (with students) in either a school or church setting
  • A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
  • Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith

Job Description
  • Complete Initial and Ongoing Training
    • Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the LifeWise classroom
    • Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year
    • Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
    • Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
  • Teach LifeWise Classes
    • Utilize the LifeWise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customization
    • Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources
    • Implement age-appropriate lesson plans using only LifeWise curriculum
    • Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularly
    • Cultivate an organized and encouraging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in nature
    • Prioritize student engagement
  • Maintain Records
    • Keep accurate student attendance records
    • Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permission as noted on parent permission slips
    • Prepare adequate lesson plans, information and materials for a substitute teacher
  • Maintain the Classroom
    • Establish a culture that fosters academic pursuits and a love of learning as a means to promote a spiritual growth
    • Maintain a clean, attractive, age appropriate and well-ordered classroom
    • Know procedures for dealing with emergency situations
    • Purchase classroom supplies as neede using funds provided by the program director
  • Communicate
    • Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
    • Attend events as available or requested by the program director
    • Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
    • Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
    • Submit regular updates, stories and photos to the program director
    • Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
