Job description

About the Firm:

Monticello Associates, LLC is an investment consulting firm serving foundations, endowments, and family office clients in an investment advisory capacity. The firm is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with additional offices in Cleveland, Ohio, Washington, D.C., and Boston, Massachusetts. Our firm provides clients with manager due diligence and selection, asset allocation strategy recommendations, performance reporting, and all other necessary functions required to support clients in their role as fiduciaries.

In 2025, Monticello partnered with Cresset, an award-winning*, independent multi-family office and private investment firm. This combination brings together Monticelloโ€™s deep experience in endowment and foundation consulting with Cressetโ€™s scale, comprehensive family office services, and broad private market access. The result is a powerful combination of institutional rigor and boutique personalization, delivering customized solutions to clients while opening new and exciting career opportunities for our team.

Associate, Investment Consulting

Monticello Associates is seeking a thoughtful, self-motivated, and highly principled individual to serve as an Investment Consulting. This is an entry-level position, ideal for a candidate with 0-2 years of professional experience who is looking to build a career in institutional investment consulting. In this role, the individual will work as an integral member of a small, collaborative team โ€” supporting a group of consultants and Associate Directors, along with the firm's research effort, across client engagements and investment manager due diligence. The Analyst will take direction from several senior colleagues at once and will need to prioritize thoughtfully across them. This position will be based in Bethesda, Maryland; it is a hybrid role with the expectation of three to four days a week in the office.

As an Associate, you will help analyze traditional and alternative investments within the context of a client's portfolio, working closely with the consultants you support to develop thoughtful and strategic insight grounded in the current market environment and each client's specific objectives. The work spans client communications and materials, asset allocation studies and quantitative analysis, investment manager meetings and research, requests for proposal, and the preparation of quarterly client materials.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working as part of a close-knit team and supporting the day-to-day workload of a group of consultants who advise endowments, foundations, and family offices.
  • Providing administrative and analytical support for client portfolios and helping track progress against the firm's long-term goals for its clients.
  • Supporting the research team across multiple asset classes by assisting with investment manager research and due diligence.
  • Building quantitative analyses and reports related to relevant market activity, as well as client and manager portfolio metrics, at the direction of the consultants you support.
  • Helping anticipate client needs based on market environment and responding to ad hoc requests with a highly-tailored approach.
  • Quarterly preparation of client materials and presentations, as well as assistance with RFPs and onboarding materials.
  • Serving as a dependable, flexible resource to the broader team โ€” stepping in wherever help is needed across client work, research, and firm-wide projects, and communicating clearly about capacity and competing deadlines.

Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate who is a dynamic thinker and team player. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, coachable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines. Candidates should be comfortable supporting a client-facing team and should take a โ€œclient-firstโ€ approach to managing day-to-day requests. Because the Analyst supports several consultants at once, a collaborative disposition, a willingness to pitch in wherever the team needs help, and the judgment to triage competing deadlines are essential.

Seeking 0 โ€“ 2 years of experience; internships or coursework in finance or investments are a plus, but this role is well-suited to a recent graduate. An undergraduate degree is required. Demonstrated progress toward the CFA designation is strongly preferred โ€” candidates who have passed CFA Level I, or who are registered to sit for an upcoming exam, will be viewed favorably. Analysts are expected to enroll in the CFA Program within their first year and to maintain steady progress toward the charter while in the role. Completion of โ€“ or progress towards โ€“ a CPA is a viable candidate path.

Essential Skills:

  • Knowledge and interest in capital markets and investment manager analysis
  • Analytical problem-solving and data analysis skills
  • Strong writing ability with high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience working with AI tools and ability to drive successful prompts for complex projects
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire for constant learning
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Collaborative, team-first mindset, with the ability to manage and prioritize competing requests from several consultants at once
  • Progress toward the CFA designation โ€” Level I candidate or above preferred
  • Familiarity with investment technology (Bloomberg, eVestment, etc.) is a plus

What We Offer
