Job description

Position Summary

The Traffic Control Supervisor’s primary duty is to coordinate and inspect traffic control set-ups for conformance with approved traffic control plans, MUTCD guidelines and local entity requirements, and ensure that all internal documentation is accurate and completed. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of traffic, control, construction, industry, and possess a current TCS, CCA, or ATTSA TCS certification, valid driver’s license, and clean MVR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise/assist TCT/laborer/driver in traffic control responsibilities
  • Coordinate TCT assignment with dispatch
  • Make deliveries, pick-ups and job checks in a safe, efficient, and timely manner
  • Maintain accurate and timely Pre-Trip and Post Trip Inspection Paperwork
  • Maintain delivery/pickup tickets
  • Flexibility to work on various schedules and stay late, when necessary, with little or no notice. Able to work mid and night shifts
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements to perform the job safely

Qualifications & Skills

  • Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR **Must maintain a valid driver’s license during entire employment**
  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check
  • Pass medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
  • A strong knowledge of the traffic control/construction industry
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with team members inside and out of the organization
  • Self-motivated; capable of taking initiative, successfully handling and prioritizing multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines
  • Daily travel to and from worksite, some overnight travel may be necessary.

Certification Required - Current TCS, CCA or ATSSA TCS Certification

  • TCS Certification – Certified to supervise, implement, and maintain temporary traffic control and work zone safety operations in compliance with MUTCD standards.
  • CCA Certification – Colorado Contractors Association certification validating expertise in traffic control supervision, work zone safety, and roadway traffic management.
  • ATSSA TCS Certification – Nationally recognized certification from the American Traffic Safety Services Association demonstrating advanced knowledge of temporary traffic control planning, implementation, and supervision.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions / varying temperature, e.g., exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, dry and / or windy conditions.
  • Work includes prolonged and repeated lifting (including overhead) up to 75lbs., must be able to stand for extended periods of time, 8 to 10 hrs. per day up to 6 days per week

  • Pay rate is $25.00 - $32.00 per hour, based on experience
