Senior Linux Systems Administrator

Clearances Required: Active DoD Secret

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States

Job Description

TCS is searching for a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support our Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customer in Huntsville, AL. The GMD program is a portion of the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) system to protect the US and our allies from ballistic missile attacks.

This is an in-office position. Work from home is not available.

Job Overview: System Administrator

  • Support and maintain a high availability, distributed, multi-clustered server infrastructure and systems
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability
  • Accountable for system administration, identity and authentication, information system security accreditation, data storage and backup, physical infrastructure maintenance, and automation development
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies
  • Manage and maintain storage and backup systems, including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage solutions
  • Perform regular data backups and recovery operations
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery plans
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to support the overall infrastructure
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and security policies
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and policies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline with 2 years of experience OR Master's degree with 0 years of experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Systems Administration for Linux Operating Systems such as RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Experience with automation and test cases and RMF requirements
  • Must have a DoD 8140 certification (ex: Security + CE)
  • U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with RHEL and Cisco Networks
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite servers and configuration
  • Familiarity with Network Technologies and Cybersecurity
  • Strong systems administrator experience, specifically in Linux Operating System environments
  • Experience with scripting using tools such as Python, Perl, Bash, PowerShell, etc.
  • Experience with network administration and related infrastructure
  • Experience with hardware installation and maintenance including firmware upgrades
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
