Position Title: Staff Instructor - Tactical Commander's Course (TCC)

Job Description: The Staff Instructor for the Tactical Commander's Course (TCC) supports the delivery of advanced training for law enforcement personnel, focusing on tactical operations, event security, and crisis management. The position requires a knowledgeable and experienced tactical operator with leadership experience in special weapons and tactics (SWAT) teams. Staff Instructors collaborate with lead instructors to provide expert instruction, assist in course preparation, and contribute to the professional development of course participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Support: Deliver high-quality instruction and facilitate hands-on training sessions under the guidance of the Lead Instructor.
  • Operational Expertise: Teach principles of tactical operations, hostage rescue, SOP development, and security management for special events.
  • Course Preparation and Execution: Assist in preparing materials, setting up training scenarios, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Mentorship and Participant Development: Provide feedback and guidance to participants, helping them develop their tactical leadership and operational management skills.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with instructional staff to ensure training objectives are achieved and maintain the highest professional standards.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or equivalent work experience.
    • Three (3) years of professional law enforcement experience may substitute for one (1) year of education.
  • Professional Experience:
    • A minimum of three (3) years of experience, including:
      • Planning and managing tactical operations and security for special events.
      • Developing SOPs for tactical teams.
      • Implementing tactical police management and event security policies.
      • Participating in the special operations team/unit selection process.
  • Specialized Training:
    • Graduate of a local, state, federal, or military SWAT training school (minimum of 40 hours).
  • Leadership Experience:
    • At least two (2) years in a leadership position on a SWAT team with hostage rescue as a principal mission.
  • Instructional Experience:
    • At least one (1) year of experience teaching SWAT training or critical incident management in an adult education, college, military, or law enforcement training program.
