Job Summary
This full-time exempt position is responsible for teaching courses related to Computer Information Technology.
Job Duties
  • This position is responsible for individualized instruction in all phases of the Computer Information Technology program and administration of the College's computer networks.
  • Other duties include coordinating curriculum updates, student record keeping, industry and student recruitment, placement and follow-up of program graduates and program budgeting.
  • Maintain the installation of the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Email and Internet systems.
  • Maintains and upgrades software and computer equipment.
  • Investigates and resolves computer software and hardware problems of users.
  • Installs and performs repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
  • Answers staff and customer's inquiries in person and via telephone concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, word-processing, email, Internet and operating systems.
  • Provides technical assistance and training to systems users.
  • Serve on college committees and represent the college at community events. Performs related work and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education with credentials in related field. Equivalent relevant full-time experience in the field may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the Computer Information Technology field within the last five years.
  • Must possess a high degree of knowledge in network administration, PC hardware, systems analysis and software.
  • Must possess the organizational and communications skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school and adult students.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ certifications and Microsoft certifications preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree preferred. Post-secondary diploma or A.A.S. in computer information or related field.
  • Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices
  • Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Title VII, Title IX, ADA and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and planning skills
  • Ability to participate as a team member
  • Ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations, and ability to adjust to change
  • Ability to handle confidential material judiciously
  • Understanding of education programs and resources related to technical colleges.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions
  • Physically able to lift, stoop, stand and walk to demonstrate and perform all job duties required.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications, experience, education, and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents. An Associate Instructor grade has a minimum to midpoint salary range of $51,149 to $61,379.
