Quality Control Specialist

Automotive Manufacturing | Athens, AL

Department: Quality

FLSA: Exempt

Reports To: QC Manager / Assistant Manager

Travel: Up to 25%

Schedule: Must be able to support fixed or rotating shifts, including overtime or weekend support as needed

We are hiring a Quality Control Specialist to help protect customer quality, strengthen plant processes, and drive issue resolution in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role supports new and existing production, leads containment and corrective actions, partners with customers and suppliers, and helps ensure parts meet or exceed quality expectations.

This is a strong fit for someone with experience in automotive quality, plant quality, customer quality, supplier quality, SPC, PFMEA, control plans, root cause analysis, and engineering drawing interpretation.

What you’ll do
  • Support plant quality systems to ensure parts meet customer requirements
  • Investigate customer, supplier, and internal quality issues
  • Lead containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, and prevention activity
  • Partner with manufacturing to reduce defects and prevent repeat outflow
  • Coordinate quality activity for new launches, engineering changes, and existing production
  • Review raw materials, purchased parts, and production processes for quality risk
  • Maintain and improve core quality documents, including:
    • PFMEA
    • Control Plans
    • Process Flow documents
    • Inspection standards
    • ISIR documentation
    • Quality plans and evaluation plans
  • Conduct audits, process reviews, and product evaluations
  • Support calibration readiness for new inspection equipment
  • Prepare KPI reports, launch documentation, and visual quality summaries
  • Work directly with customers and suppliers to resolve quality concerns
  • Support service part quality issues and warranty-related investigations as needed
  • Help train team members on quality requirements, standards, and improvement actions

What you need to bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 0–4 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of quality control methods, SPC, problem solving, and process improvement
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • engineering drawings
    • specifications
    • tolerances
    • GD&T
    • change instructions
    • inspection standards
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through
  • Ability to manage multiple issues in a fast-moving production environment
Preferred qualifications
  • Automotive manufacturing experience
  • Experience with customer quality, supplier quality, or plant quality
  • Familiarity with Toyota systems, SQAM, TPS, or launch requirements
  • Experience with PFMEA, control plans, ISIR, and quality audits
  • Knowledge of welding processes such as arc, spot, or projection welding
  • Experience using measuring equipment and inspection tools
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Japanese language skills are a plus
Work environment

This role works in both office and plant environments. The plant setting includes a standard automotive manufacturing environment with moderate noise and required PPE in designated areas.
