JOB TITLE:ย  Long-Term Substitute Secretary




LOCATION: Taylor County Middle School
QUALIFICATIONS:
ย 


  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. A passing score on the WV Competency Test for secretaries.
  3. A passing score on the WV competency Test for accountants is preferred.

ย 
TO WHOM RESPONSIBLE:ย Taylor County Middle School Administration (Principal and Assistant Principals).ย 
Effective Date:ย Upon Board Approval - July 1, 2026 until the return of the regular employee
Funding Source:ย General Currentย 
General Responsibilities:ย 






  1. Proficiency in computer skills using both hardware and software
  2. Proficiency with computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphics
  3. Deal with difficult situations and persons
  4. Such successful experience and training deemed necessary for the performance of assigned duties
  5. Experience with administration, WVEIS software, and word processing skills required
  6. Experience with the West Virginia Education Information System (WVEIS)
  7. Perform other duties requested by theย Office Administration

RESPONSIBILITIES:
ย 

  1. Maintain student permanent record files including preparation of transcripts, preparation of documents for digitization, updating of current student records, etc.
  2. Handle correspondence
  3. Maintain computerized records for school accounts
  4. Comply with all state and county policies with emphasisย in the area of school finance
  5. Utilize various software packages including financial, record retrieval, word processing, etc.
  6. Act as receptionist for the school by answering phones, assisting visitors to the school, etc.
  7. Enter and retrieve information and data from WVEIS as it relates to the job
  8. Operate and perform routine maintenance on various office machines
  9. Assist with the completion of payroll reports
  10. Dispense medications and maintain proper documentation
  11. Maintain log of visitors to the school.
  12. Prepare reports as needed
  13. Dress should be professional and appropriate to the position
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal
