Job description

We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join Weave's Tax team and play a key role in supporting tax compliance, tax accounting, indirect tax operations, and strategic tax initiatives.

This position will partner closely with the Director of Tax and help drive critical projects across the tax function, including indirect tax compliance, tax technology improvements, taxability and nexus assessments, and process optimization. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented tax professional who takes ownership of their work, communicates effectively, and enjoys solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment.

This role offers broad exposure to tax accounting, compliance, indirect tax, process improvement, and strategic tax projects within a growing public technology company.

Location: Hybrid (Lehi, UT)

Reports to: Director of Tax

What You'll Do
  • Support U.S. indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, telecommunications tax, and related filings
  • Review and reconcile tax filings, tax reports, and general ledger activity
  • Manage tax notices and support audit responses
  • Assist with U.S. federal and state income tax compliance and quarterly tax provision processes
  • Support tax-related accounting, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation
  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Product, Engineering, and external advisors on tax-related matters
  • Support high-impact tax projects, including telecommunications tax initiatives, nexus reviews, taxability assessments, remediation efforts, and tax technology implementations
  • Assist with tax technology, process improvement, and automation initiatives
  • Maintain organized documentation and workpapers to support compliance and audit readiness
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of tax experience in public accounting, industry, or a combination of both
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA license or progress toward CPA certification
  • Experience with indirect tax, sales and use tax, state and local tax, or tax compliance functions
  • Experience with tax provision processes under ASC 740
  • Experience with Avalara or other tax technology platforms
  • Experience responding to tax notices and supporting audits
  • SaaS, telecommunications, or technology industry experience
