Position Summary

The Lead Consultant will implement indirect tax technology solutions including tax engines, exemption management solutions, and compliance tools for both Sales & Use Tax (SUT) and VAT. This role partners with clients to provide innovative tax solutions by integrating leading tax engines with ERP, billing, and ecommerce platforms, while applying innovative approaches to complex indirect tax challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all phases of the software implementation methodology including planning, requirements gathering, solution design, tax configuration, testing, knowledge transfer, and cutover support.
  • Project management activities such as leading status calls, creating status reports, taking meeting minutes, and maintaining project plans.
  • Create and maintain project documentation.
  • Offer/apply in-depth knowledge of tax technology best practices and function as a subject matter expert to clients.
  • Lead tax requirements sessions with clients for input to the solution design.
  • Implement an array of tax technology solutions (ONESOURCE, Vertex, Avalara) as well as integrate these solutions with ERP, Billing, POS, and Ecommerce systems (Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, etc.).
  • Assist with troubleshooting functional and technical issues related to tax solutions.
  • Explain the high‑level differences among the tax engine solutions and define opportunities for improvement for existing tax technology solutions.
  • Assist management with business development activities.
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Accounting, Mathematics, or related field required.
  • 4‑7 years of experience in a related role.
  • Understanding of common requirements for a tax integration project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expertise with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Projects).
  • PMP experience a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years managing tax related projects.
  • Travel as required (approximately 15‑50%).
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment‑based visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position does not qualify for employment‑based sponsorship.
