Job description

Tax Manager

Valley Tax Advisors - Lehigh Valley, PA

At Valley Tax Advisors, we believe tax work should empower business owners -- not overwhelm them. Our clients depend on us not just to prepare returns, but to translate numbers into clarity, direction, and confidence. As a Tax Manager, you will step into a key leadership role within a boutique firm that truly values expertise, relationships, and thoughtful, strategic guidance.

Why Valley Tax Advisors?

At Valley Tax Advisors, we believe tax work should empower business owners -- not overwhelm them. Our clients depend on us not just to prepare returns, but to translate numbers into clarity, direction, and confidence. As a Tax Manager, you will step into a key leadership role within a boutique firm that values expertise, relationships, and thoughtful, strategic guidance.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to build toward partnership. Valley Tax Advisors is intentional about developing next-generation leaders, and this position is designed as a fast track to partnership for the right person. If you're a relationship builder who values deep, long-term connections with clients -- and you're looking for a firm where those relationships become the foundation of your future -- you'll find that here. The Tax Manager is a highly visible role, one where your reputation, client rapport, and advisory instincts will directly shape your path within the firm.

Why this role is special
  • You become a trusted advisor. Your insights will shape how business owners grow, plan, and problem-solve.
  • You're not siloed. You'll collaborate across tax, accounting, advisory, and client consulting services -- influencing the full financial picture.
  • Boutique environment. Big contribution. Your voice matters here; ideas are encouraged, leaders are accessible, and innovation is welcomed.
  • Technology-forward mindset. The firm uses modern systems, including SmartLedger, to deliver clarity and real-time insights.
  • You help build the future. As a Tax Manager, you'll play a central role in developing staff, strengthening processes, and supporting the firm's growth.
What we offer
  • A meaningful managerial role with direct impact on clients and the firm.
  • A supportive boutique culture focused on quality, relationships, and long-term client success.
  • Modern tools, technology-driven processes, and an environment that embraces innovation.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits (details available upon request).
  • Clear opportunities for continued professional growth and expanded responsibility.
What you will do
  • Manage, review, and sign off on a variety of federal, state, and local tax returns for businesses and individuals.
  • Lead tax planning engagements, identifying opportunities and advising clients on strategies aligned with their goals.
  • Serve as a primary contact for clients -- providing proactive insights, explanations, and recommendations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff accountants and senior-level team members.
  • Ensure high-quality client service through effective workflow management, review procedures, and process improvements.
  • Conduct and oversee tax research, interpret legislation, and help develop firm-wide best practices.
  • Partner with accounting and advisory teams to deliver a cohesive, comprehensive service experience.
What we're looking for
  • CPA preferred (or actively pursuing).
  • Approximately 5+ years of progressive tax experience, ideally in public accounting or a similar advisory-focused environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax regulations for business entities and individuals.
  • Excellent communication skills -- able to explain complex topics clearly to business owners.

This role is perfect for a tax professional who wants to step into a visible, trusted advisor position -- someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to make a genuine difference in clients' businesses.
