Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced CPA or EA who wants more than another busy-season job. This is an opportunity to help build and shape a modern tax practice that works alongside financial advisors to deliver strategic tax planning, not just annual tax compliance.

Position Overview

The Tax Manager will play a key leadership role in our expanding tax practice. You will oversee tax preparation and review, collaborate with financial advisors on year-round tax planning strategies, and help establish scalable processes that support continued growth. This position offers meaningful influence over the direction of the practice and is ideal for someone who enjoys building systems, mentoring professionals, and creating exceptional client experiences.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for: Individuals, S Corporations Trusts and Estates, Partnerships (occasionally), C Corporations (occasionally)

• Develop proactive tax planning strategies for high-net-worth clients and business owners.

• Collaborate with financial advisors to integrate tax planning into comprehensive financial planning.

• Conduct client meetings and explain tax strategies in clear, understandable language.

• Review complex tax situations and research technical issues.

• Develop and improve internal workflows, procedures, and quality control standards.

• Assist in selecting and implementing technology that enhances efficiency and client service.

• Mentor and support future tax staff as the practice grows.

• Help establish a culture focused on excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications Required

• Active CPA or EA license.

• Four or more years of public/client facing tax experience.

• Strong knowledge of individual, trust, partnership, and business taxation.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulatecomplex financial concepts in a clear and straightforward manner.

• Strong organizational and project management abilities.

• Familiarity with the CCH suite of products.

Preferred

• Experience serving high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses.

• Familiarity with tax planning strategies beyond compliance.

• Experience with tax research and planning software.

• Leadership or supervisory experience.

• Interest in helping grow and improve a developing tax practice.
