Job description

PCG is seeking a Tax Analyst for its corporate operations based in Lenexa, Kansas.

This position offers a unique opportunity to build a career at the intersection of corporate tax, technology, and data analytics. In addition to developing expertise in multi-state tax compliance, the successful candidate will help modernize the Corporate Tax function by leveraging technology, automation, and data-driven insights to improve processes and support strategic decision-making. Approximately half of this role focuses on traditional tax compliance responsibilities, while the other half is dedicated to analytics, process improvement, and tax technology initiatives.

As a Tax Analyst I, you will have the opportunity to:

Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax, income tax, and property tax returns.
  • Analyze transactions and research taxability to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Prepare supporting workpapers, reconciliations, and tax account analyses.
  • Respond to tax notices and correspondence from taxing authorities.
  • Assist with tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing analyses, and researching tax issues.
  • Perform tax account reconciliations and resolve exceptions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and tax guidance to branch operations and corporate departments.
  • Partner with Accounting, Treasury, Operations, Procurement, Payroll, and other internal departments to resolve tax-related questions.

Tax Technology & Analytics

  • Analyze tax and financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that provide meaningful business insights and support informed decision-making.
  • Utilize modern tax technology, business intelligence, and data analytics tools to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of tax processes.
  • Support automation initiatives by reducing manual processes and implementing scalable solutions that enhance compliance and reporting.
  • Assist with ERP and tax technology initiatives, including system implementations, upgrades, testing, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliations, and exception reporting across multiple data sources to ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Treasury, IT, and Operations to improve data quality and strengthen tax reporting capabilities.
  • Participate in special projects that support the continued modernization of the Corporate Tax function.

Professional Development

  • Participate in technical tax, analytics, technology, and professional development training.
  • Develop expertise in tax compliance, business intelligence, and tax technology while building a long-term career within the Corporate Tax department.
  • Contribute ideas that support innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of progressive experience in multi-state corporate tax, including sales and use tax, income tax, and/or property tax compliance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related business discipline is preferred. Equivalent combinations of relevant education and professional experience will be considered.
  • Multi-state corporate tax experience is required.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, Power Query, and advanced data analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated customer service mindset and ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Construction industry experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Alteryx, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), and Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE products.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, or data visualizations that support business decision-making.
  • Experience supporting process improvement, automation, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity working with ERP systems and large financial datasets.
  • Experience utilizing AI-enabled productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to improve research, analysis, reporting, or process efficiency.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning emerging technologies and applying them to improve business processes.
