Position Overview
The Tax Director will lead the companys tax function, ensuring accurate, timely tax compliance and effective tax planning to optimize the organizations tax position while managing risk. This role partners with finance and business leaders to develop and execute tax strategies, oversee tax reporting and provision, manage audits and external advisors, and strengthen tax processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the corporate tax function, including compliance, planning, provision (ASC 740) and reporting across federal, state and international jurisdictions.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and support the company's business objectives and growth initiatives.
  • Oversee preparation and review of tax returns, tax provision calculations and related disclosures; ensure accuracy and timely filing.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors and regulatory authorities; coordinate responses to tax audits and examinations.
  • Provide tax guidance and support for transactions, restructurings, M&A activity and new business initiatives.
  • Build, mentor and develop a high-performing tax team; establish clear goals, training and performance metrics.
  • Drive process improvements and controls to increase efficiency, accuracy and scalability of the tax function, including automation and system enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal and business unit leaders to integrate tax considerations into strategic and operational decisions.
  • Communicate tax risks, opportunities and results clearly to senior management and the Board of Directors.

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax, with demonstrated exposure to tax provision, compliance and planning.
  • Deep knowledge of federal, state and international tax laws, regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience managing tax audits and working with external advisors and auditors.
  • Strong technical tax skills including tax provision (ASC 740), transfer pricing fundamentals and tax research methodology.
  • Excellent leadership and people-development skills; experience leading and growing a tax team (nice to have).
  • Masters degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred (nice to have).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex tax matters to senior executives and non-tax audiences.
  • Proficiency with tax research tools and tax/accounting systems (e.g., ERP, tax software); strong Excel and data analysis skills.
