About the job

Project Manager – Healthcare | St. Louis

Our client is a highly respected and growing General Contractor with a strong presence throughout the St. Louis market. With a substantial pipeline of upcoming work, they are looking to add an experienced Project Manager to their Healthcare division.

The business is seeking an experienced construction professional who can take ownership of projects from preconstruction and early planning through execution and final closeout, while developing strong relationships with clients, design partners, subcontractors, and internal project teams.


🔹 The Opportunity

The Project Manager will have a high level of autonomy and take full ownership of project delivery, working closely with Superintendents, Estimating, Preconstruction, and senior leadership.

Projects will include:

🏥 Healthcare – Ground-up construction, renovations, occupied facilities and complex clinical environments

The role will involve working within sensitive healthcare environments where patient safety, infection control, regulatory compliance, phasing and coordination around active facilities are critical.


🔹 Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects from pursuit and preconstruction through final closeout

• Develop and execute project success plans, schedules, budgets, and forecasts

• Coordinate closely with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and field leadership

• Develop logistics plans and understand construction flow and site constraints

• Manage subcontractor engagement, procurement, buyout, contracts, scopes, and change orders

• Lead project kickoff meetings, startup planning, and internal risk assessments

• Review constructability, logistics, phasing, and project delivery strategies

• Maintain project schedules and proactively identify potential delays and risks

• Manage project financials, cost reporting, forecasting, and targeted margins

• Act as the primary day-to-day client contact throughout project delivery

• Build long-term client relationships that generate repeat business and referrals

• Ensure projects meet company standards for safety, quality, schedule, and profitability

• Mentor and develop Project Engineers and support staff

• Support training, process improvement, and implementation of project management technology


🔹 Healthcare Experience

Candidates should ideally have experience delivering ground-up and/or renovation healthcare projects, particularly within occupied or sensitive environments.

Experience with:

• Infection control

• Patient safety

• Healthcare regulatory requirements

• Joint Commission standards

• Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA)

• Complex phasing and logistics

• Coordination around active clinical facilities

would be particularly valuable.


🔹 What We're Looking For

5–7+ years of progressive Project Management or Project Engineering experience

• Experience independently leading projects of $5M–$20M+

• Prior healthcare construction experience strongly preferred

• General Contractor experience strongly preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field

• Experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, CMiC, or similar platforms

• Strong project financial, scheduling, subcontractor, and client management capabilities

• Strong leadership, organizational, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
