The Position

This hands-on BSI Manager of Technical Projects (MTP) position will reside within the Firms Business Solutions & Innovations Department (BSI) and will lead multiple project lifecycles and deliverables for the Firms most strategic and innovative business services initiatives. The MTP is expected to directly oversee and support day-to-day departmental operations involving the firm's financial system (LMS/Rippe) and provide direct oversight and support to BSI Staff. ย 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the planning, management, execution, and delivery of complex technical projects and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders and will be instrumental in driving project success. ย 
  • Interpret and document detailed business requirements, lead thorough business process discovery, formulate, and manage project plans, utilize data to make informed decisions, develop testing plans, lead quality assurance testing, and assist with the creation of training materials.ย 
  • Lead requirements' gathering sessions, collaborate with internal and external IT resources for application development needs, develop detailed user stories, manage projects with JIRA software, as their central application for all team and task management.
  • Collaborate with the firm's internal Revenue and Finance departments' leadership on all BSI cross-functional projects involving LMS/Rippe, Data Analytics & reporting, Aderant, Power BI, third party vendors, new software Integrations, and other initiatives.
  • Support BSI Department staff PTO scheduling, system access, training sessions, hardware and/or connectivity issues, and other matters.ย ย 
  • Balance priorities while successfully managing expectations in the Firm's fast-paced, ever-evolving legal environment. ย 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years recent experience in a hands-on leadership or project management role within an Information Technology or Business Services department, managing both internal staff and external vendors
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a supervisor or management role with direct oversight of support staff
  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience leading projects through Agile/Iterative/Hybrid methodologies, operating in Product Owner role when necessary to decompose high level project requirements into actionable Sprints and deliverables for the project teams
  • Highly proficient using JIRA software for project and task management
  • Motivated to educate and facilitate sprint planning, daily scrums, and retrospectives
  • Educate and reinforce scrum methodology and Agile framework to team members and key stakeholders
  • Experience and preferable certification in Process Improvement Methodology (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, etc.)
  • Leading vendor resources for projects that fall outside of existing IT functional areas
  • Expert communicator with exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Subject matter expert in the basics of project management (estimation, project planning, resource planning, issue management, risk management, change management, communication planning)
  • Multi-tasker with ability to successfully manage numerous projects and tasks concurrently
  • Substantiated experience raising the bar on staff delivery performance and cultivating high performance work environments
  • Experience transforming teams through technology, organization, culture, process, and business change management
  • Solution-oriented with strong leadership skills and a passion for excellence
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with Aderant Financial System & Power BI Development Studio strongly desired
  • Scrum Master, Lean Six Sigma, PMP certification(s) strongly desired
  • Experience leading the transition, integration and implementation of legal e-billing platforms a plus
  • ITIL certification a plus
  • Prior industry experience in mid to large sized Law Firm a plus
