Threat Tec, LLC, a rapidly growing Veteran-Owned Business, is the leader of Operational Environment (OE) replication and Threat Emulation/Wargaming solutions. Threat Tec brings innovative thinking and extensive experience to complex challenges for public and private sector customers. We work alongside our nation's defenders, developing solutions that drive success and protect our future. Join a team that is embodied by an unwavering commitment to professionalism, honesty, and innovation.

The Opportunity

Threat Tec is seeking an experienced MCTP HST Opposing Force Special Operations Work Area Commander to support the Mission Command Training Program in the planning and execution of Warfighter Exercises, Mission Rehearsal Exercises, Seminars, and After-Action Review development.

In this role, you will apply your military expertise, creativity, problem-solving ability, and operational storytelling skills to help improve organizational mission performance across the defense training environment. You understand that preparing military organizations for the unforeseen requires realistic scenarios, doctrinally sound planning, and the ability to create conditions that challenge commanders and staffs to make faster, smarter, data-informed decisions.

As the Opposing Force Special Operations Work Area Commander, you will serve as part of a team supporting Warfighter Exercise rotations. You will assist the World Class Opposing Forces and OPFOR Support Division with the preparation of OPFOR orders, simulation control plans, scenario products, and other contract deliverables in support of the Mission Command Training Program. You will also participate, as required, in Joint Exercise Lifecycle planning events and work side-by-side with exercise planners, command post staffs, and simulation operators to plan and execute MCTP exercise rotations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for OPFOR Special Operations.
  • Augment the OPFOR primary staff during the military decision-making process.
  • Produce Special Operations annexes, plans, and related operational products.
  • Advise commanders and staff on OPFOR Special Operations capabilities, doctrine, and employment.
  • Conduct briefings as required in support of planning and exercise execution.
  • Certify as a WARSIM Battle Simulation Workstation Operator.
  • Prepare computer simulations using exercise scenario plans, command and control graphics, and operational orders.
  • Place assigned units into doctrinal formations within the simulation, ensuring unit disposition is tactically sound, terrain-informed, and aligned with combat orders and the scenario.
  • Mentor and supervise WARSIM Battle Simulation Workstation Operators assigned to the Special Operations Work Cell, also known as Work Area Uniform.
  • Input computer orders and generate reports as directed.
  • Ensure the OPFOR Commander's intent is accurately executed within JLCCTC.
  • Ensure all OPFOR operations comply with current applicable OPFOR doctrine.
  • Coordinate maneuver operations between command post staff and simulation operators.
  • Manage OPFOR Special Operations efforts for the OPFOR Support Division.
  • Deploy occasionally to forward locations, including locations outside the United States, to assist with OPFOR operations in support of U.S. military requirements, as needed.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. An active Secret clearance is required.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Knowledge of Army and Joint regulations.
  • Knowledge of current Special Operations doctrine.
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of military experience; or high school diploma with at least 10 years of military experience.
  • Active Secret clearance.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience as a former field grade officer, warrant officer, or sergeant major.
  • Experience serving in a key developmental position at the brigade or battalion level.
  • Experience with constructive simulation models, including Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability and Warfighters' Simulation.
  • Experience with FM 7-100 series OPFOR doctrine.
  • Experience working with the Mission Command Training Program.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • Military Education Level 4.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
$70,000 - $90,000 a year
Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors including experience, education, certifications, security clearance requirements, internal equity, and customer or contract requirements.
