Part-Time Administrative Assistant / Attendance Secretary

Position: Administrative Assistant / Attendance Secretary (Part-Time)
Location: Tipton High School
Hours: MondayFriday, 7:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. (5 hours per day)
Reports To: High School Principal
Start Date: To Be Determined (August 17, 2026)



Position Summary

Tipton High School is seeking an organized, dependable, and personable individual to serve as our Part-Time Administrative Assistant / Attendance Secretary. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the high school office while ensuring accurate student attendance records and positive communication with students, families, and staff.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, and thrive in a fast-paced school environment.

Essential Responsibilities

Attendance Management

  • Monitor and maintain accurate daily student attendance records.
  • Receive and process parent/guardian attendance notifications.
  • Contact parents or guardians regarding unreported student absences as needed.
  • Verify attendance information and assist in resolving attendance discrepancies.
  • Assist administration with attendance reports and documentation.
  • Maintain confidential student attendance records in accordance with district policies.

Office Support

  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to students, parents, staff, and visitors.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
  • Assist with student check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain office files and records.
  • Perform data entry and other clerical duties.
  • Assist with mail, correspondence, copying, and other general office tasks.
  • Support the High School Principal and office staff with daily operations.
  • Perform additional office responsibilities as assigned.
  • Interact with school information systems and technology to support purchasing, data entry, and other assigned tasks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous office, administrative assistant, or school office experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn district software systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
