Position Summary
 

The Qualified Mental Health Professional–Community Services (QMHP-CS) provides mental health rehabilitative services and targeted case management to youth and adults. The individual in this role works under the supervision of a Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA) and Program Director, offering direct support, skill development, and therapeutic interventions that encourage growth and stability in daily life.

Qualifications
 

The QMHP-CS must meet one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with coursework equivalent to a major in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, counseling, sociology, rehabilitation, special education, early childhood education, gerontology, human growth and development, or related behavioral health fields as defined in §412.316(d), OR
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas, OR
  • Completion of an approved alternative credentialing process as recognized by the department.

Reliable transportation and active auto insurance are required.

Key Responsibilities
 
  • Provide targeted case management and skills training services to youth and adults.
  • Provide psychosocial rehabilitative services, medication training and support as needed.
  • Offer supportive counseling, behavioral and emotional management, and solution-focused interventions.
  • Participate in crisis intervention under supervisory direction to ensure safety and de-escalation.
  • Complete documentation, including progress notes, within 24 hours of service delivery.
  • Document phone contacts, telehealth sessions, and communication with client supports.
  • Assist in treatment planning and service reviews in collaboration with Program Manager and LPHA.
  • Attend required meetings, agency trainings, and weekly supervision.
  • Work as part of a coordinated care team to promote consistency and continuity in services.
  • Provide services during flexible hours, which may include evenings or weekends.
  • Participate in the agency’s on-call crisis rotation.
  • Maintain agency-required annual training compliance.
