Job description

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role located in Rockford, IL. The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions, contact lens evaluations, and ocular health assessments, following clinical best practices and regulatory requirements. The role involves diagnosing and managing vision conditions, educating patients on eye health, and recommending appropriate lenses, treatments, and follow-up care. The Optometrist will collaborate with store associates to ensure seamless patient flow, support optical sales with clinical expertise, and help create an excellent guest experience. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate patient records, adhering to professional and company standards, and participating in local outreach or promotional activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Clinical optometry skills, including comprehensive eye exams, refraction, contact lens fitting, and ocular disease detection and management.
  • Patient care skills focused on clear communication, education on eye health, and delivering a welcoming, inclusive experience for diverse populations.
  • Collaboration and teamwork abilities to work effectively with optical staff, support store operations, and contribute to a positive, service-oriented environment.
  • Organizational and documentation skills for maintaining accurate clinical records, managing schedules, and complying with regulatory and company policies.
  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited school of optometry.
  • Current, unrestricted Illinois optometry license (or eligibility to obtain before start date).
  • Comfort using digital exam equipment and electronic health record systems.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advances in optometry and vision care.
  • Experience in a retail or multi-disciplinary eye care setting is beneficial but not required.
