What is an eye tech?

Eye Techs, also known as ophthalmic technicians or ophthalmic assistants, are healthcare professionals who support ophthalmologists in providing eye care. They perform preliminary eye exams, take patient histories, conduct diagnostic tests, and assist with procedures. Eye Techs also help educate patients about eye health and may handle administrative tasks in eye clinics. Their work is vital in ensuring efficient and effective eye care services.

What are the typical daily tasks and responsibilities of an eye tech in a clinical setting?

As an Eye Tech (Ophthalmic Technician), your daily responsibilities usually include preparing patients for eye exams, performing diagnostic tests (such as visual field testing and retinal imaging), recording patient histories, and assisting ophthalmologists during procedures.
