JOB SUMMARY

The General Manager of the WTW Water Center lends strategic vision and oversees daily operations, ensuring high-quality guest experiences, staff management, and partner development. Key duties include logistics, budgeting, maintaining high service standards, and fostering authentic storytelling and engagement practices with guests. A background in hospitality, strong leadership, and creative tourism experiences are crucial.

  • Operations & Logistics: Oversee all operations, including scheduling, logistics, inventory, global shipping and customs processes for WTW Filter Build and Water Center activities.

  • Guest Experience: Ensure high service standards, creation of high impact touchpoints, develop and strengthen immersion experiences and workshops that inspire people to get involved in supporting the WTW mission.

  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and develop an inspiring team to host guests, facilitate workshops, and tell the WTW story.

  • Financial Management: Prepare and manage budgets and financial reporting.

  • Marketing & Partner Development: Maintain and enlist partner relationships to develop a tourism network through the Water Center that advances the WTW clean water mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operational Leadership: Coordinate all logistics, scheduling, inventory management, site development, maintenance, and retail shop as part of the Water Center. This includes coordination with WTW US operations, global shipping, and finance to build a model for operational sustainability under the leadership of the Africa Regional Director.

  • Guest Experience: Be part of a collaborative team launching the Water Center in 2026 and lead ongoing phases to enhance visitor engagement through innovative, hands-on experiences and educational programming. Personally host groups of high-profile guests, establish protocol and best practice guidelines for group facilitation, train and lead staff to excellence in delivering impactful workshops that lead guests to take a next step with WTW. The Director will set the tone to generate enthusiasm, inspiring guests to get involved.

  • Partner Development: Ensure ongoing communication, feedback and reporting with WTW and key safari partners to improve and develop guest experiences. Foster relationships with donors, sponsors, and corporate partners to further expand the WTW network and revenue streams.

  • Donor Engagement: Work with WTW US to develop donor engagement tools, systems for donor and lead generation, and to incorporate storytelling into the Guest Experience and follow-up journey for guests. This includes attention to fundraising for WTW projects and support for water initiatives within Tanzania.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with WTW Tanzania and WTW US to tell the WTW story through the Center and build new initiatives for guest engagement.

  • Financial Management: Manage budgets, revenue generation and financial reporting. Responsible for meeting target goals, optimizing costs without compromising the guest experience.

  • Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, onboard and mentor a diverse team of hosts and center staff. This includes enforcing best practices and building cultural sensitivity to connect with and inspire guests.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and local regulations including quality control protocol for the DROP Filter assembly process.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: 5+ years in a similar role, ideally in global tourism or high-end lodge setting.

  • Skills: Proven leadership within the tourism sector, exceptional cross-cultural understanding and communication skills, strong organizational abilities, revenue and management skills.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Tourism, or related field.

  • Soft Skills: Ability to remain calm under pressure, strong problem-solving skills for logistical delays, and exceptional interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.

  • Work status in Tanzania, ability to live in Arusha or proximity with potential travel to other regions.

  • Demonstration of project management skills within a dynamic environment.

  • Motivated, self-starter with a positive attitude

  • Effective communicator with excellent writing, editing, and English presentation skills

  • Proficient in Google Suite
