Tanker Mechanic / Technician โ€“ New Brighton, MN | $28โ€“$36/hr + $3,000 Sign-On Bonus

If you have hands-on tanker trailer experience and want to join one of the most respected tanker shops in the Midwest, Universal Truck Service is expanding its New Brighton team.

Universal Truck Service is a family-owned company that has grown from a small New Brighton shop in 2000 into a multi-location operation serving the Twin Cities trucking industry. Our Tanker and Trailer Division in New Brighton is one of the leading tanker repair facilities in the region, and we are looking for skilled Tanker Mechanics and Technicians to grow with us. Candidates may qualify as Level I, Level II, or Senior Technician depending on verified experience.

A Day in the Life

As a Tanker Mechanic / Technician at Universal Truck Service, you will work on a wide range of tanker trailer systems in a specialized facility built for this work. Your day may include diagnosing ABS and disc brake issues, repairing lift axles, servicing internal valves and pneumatic systems, or conducting electrical repairs and wiring work. The Tanker Technician role at Universal Truck Service is technical, varied, and built for someone who takes pride in getting it right.

What You'll Do
  • Diagnose and repair ABS and disc brake systems
  • Perform suspension repair and replacement - spring and air ride
  • Repair and replace lift axles
  • Maintain pneumatic and hydraulic vent systems
  • Service internal valves including Top Hat, Quick Clean, Disc, Air, and Mechanical
  • Repair API heads and QRB valves
  • Conduct electrical repairs and wiring
  • Troubleshoot and replace overfill systems
  • Repair piping systems, jacket wraps, and heads

What You Bring
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Tanker Technician
  • Strong mechanical background including air brake and trailer repair
  • Diesel engine repair experience preferred (1 year minimum)
  • Own tools and toolbox
  • Valid driver's license (Class C)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
