Job description

Job Summary 

Provide direction on daily tasks for crew. Good skills and knowledge of duties in the weld environment. Works closely and interacts with Operations Manager and the Client. Ensures crew is working safely and quality of work is maintained. The Tank Foreman is expected to work in the Field alongside the crew. 

Please note, this is to fill supervision roles for upcoming projects across Canada; travel is required for this role. 

Essential Functions

  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.”
  • Receives and understands instructions and prints regarding work assignment in field.
  • Performs work requiring knowledge of the welding properties of various types of metals, welding rods, welding heat, stress relief, allowances for fit-up and machining, and the effect of shrinkage, warpage, and expansion.
  • Interprets drawings and sketches; plans details of working procedure; and decides on tools and materials needed.
  • Sets up, assembles, cleans, and prepares items to be welded.
  • Performs welding in all positions. Makes any type and size of weld.
  • Fitting flat, bottom steel sheets for proper welding application
  • Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut materials to size and shape.
  • Cleans and chips or grinds parts and welds.
  • Weld tacking horizontal and vertical seams
  • Cleans up material and debris after completing each job.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Loading and offloading field equipment and material shipments from trucks
  • Works with welding staff, Operations Manager and client
  • Maintain safety accountability with employees on site
  • Complete daily timecards
  • Identify safety hazards and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards
  • Assure a high level of work is being performed
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to pass test- 2G, 3G, 4G in both SMAW & FCAW processes
  • Must maintain a 95-100% pass rate on weld X-ray/visual exams
  • Must be able to read prints and written instructions as well as provide verbal directions to crew
  • Follow welding procedure specifications when welding
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written
  • Ability to work with all types of individuals

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience running Tank projects is required
  • Previous supervisory experience is required
  • Tank Building and/or Repair experience, required
  • Site requires fire retardant clothing.
  • Maintain clean shaven and/or free of facial hair so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (Site Specific)
  • Must be willing to travel for work
  • Must be willing to work frequent overtime.
  • CSTS 09/20, Confined Space, Fall Pro, H2S Alive and EWP training is required

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform tasks at heights.
  • Work will include pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment, or tools.
  • Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks. 
  • Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb. 
  • Work will include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers.
  • Work involves standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to a minimum of 8-10 hours per day.
  • Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time, often inside confined spaces.
  • Must be able to perform tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
