MANTECH is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative System Administrator to join our team in Laurel, MD.
In this role, you will develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. Work individually or as part of a team. Review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and document test results. Resolve software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provide specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
  • Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.
  • Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
  • Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.
  • Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. 5 years of additional System Administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • 15 years' experience as a System Administration in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • CompTIA SEC+ (or CISSP)
  • Hands-on experience operating and administration of various Linux OS (i.e. RHEL9, Talos)
  • Experience with building host image templates with automation tools (i.e. Terraform, Packer, SALT, Ansible, RHEL Satellite, Jumphost)
  • Experience with Trellix Endpoint Security and Firewall, Nessus Security Center, UAM, rsyslog and auditd
  • Working knowledge of DISA STIGs, CVEs, and IAVAs for STE/STN compliance
  • Working knowledge of PKI infrastructure and authentication/authorization processes
  • Working knowledge of certificate, DNS, and IP management

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of VMware vSphere vCenter, vSphere API and related services
  • Understanding of Amazon AWS EC2, EC2 API and related services
  • Basic understanding of containerization concepts and operations, i.e. Docker and Kubernetes
  • Basic understanding of GitOps development and CI/CD (Gitlab)
  • Experience scripting with Python, PowerShell, or Bash

Clearance Requirements:
  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, including delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

The projected compensation range for this position is $128,000.00-$214,400.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
