Job description

Objective

To profitably increase the sales of Cone Distributing products by improving the presence and visibility of all Cone brands by executing pre-set point of sale and merchandising standards. To assist in the proper sales and delivery of all products sold by Team Cone and assist in the correct marketing of those products at the retail level: To learn and maintain Cone Distributing Retail Call and Merchandising Standards.

Responsibilities/Expectations

  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must be able to arrive at work between the hours of 4 to 6 AM depending on the route schedule and work until the entire route is serviced.
  • Ability to work all weekends (Saturday and Sunday as part of the work week) or as scheduled.
  • The ability to work holidays (except Thanksgiving and Christmas).
  • Ability to lift 25- 30 lbs. packaged products and up to 160lb kegs
  • The capability of working in a team environment.
  • A basic knowledge of code dates, basic understanding of Cone Distributing Retail Call standards, Rotation Standards, and Merchandising Standards.
  • Must be a graduate of or participating in the Beer 101 program.
  • The ability to use Smart Phones, I-pads, or other similar electronic devices in the performance of job duties.
  • Effective communication skills for both internal and external communication. Must be able to communicate both with store personnel, delivery, and sales personnel, as well as with members of Team Cone management. Report all issues to the merchandising Trainers and or Manager.
  • The ability to learn and work in route accounting software.
  • Complete the delivery process by breaking down and organizing delivered pallets.
  • Proper removal of all trash involved in the delivery process, including cardboard, paper, and shrink wrap; unused pallets and Soda Trays to be staged for proper return as designated by the account.
  • Properly stock coolers, back stock, shelves & refill displays to capacity as needed.
  • Maintain proper rotation standards on an ongoing basis.
  • Code date systems must be thoroughly understood and strictly followed. Primary responsibility to rotate all backroom stock, coolers, and displays on each call.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Build and maintain product displays as directed. Restock all warm & cold beer selling areas. Merchandise with base wrap, signs & appropriate point of sale if account allows it. Maintain account back stock in orderly condition.
  • Complete the sales process by reporting any sales opportunities to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in the building of thematic or creative displays, or as directed.
  • Ensure all products are in good saleable condition. Remove damaged items from the selling area and place in an area to be returned.
  • Attend all merchandising meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
  • Build & maintain good business relations with all customers. Possess good communications skills & promote harmony with all customers.
  • Maintain assigned shelf space in all account, obtain additional space when possible.
  • Make sure any missing price tags are reported to the necessary personnel before leaving the account.
  • Submit any out of stock conditions to salesperson daily.
  • The return of all weekend paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Report all problems to Supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain appropriate dress (uniform) and personal appearance standards (dress policy).
  • Maintain assigned equipment (breakdowns, hand trucks, phone etc.) and vehicle. Report vehicle issues to the mechanic on duty immediately.
  • Maintain a safe driving record. Report any driving related issues to HR immediately.
  • Assist with other tasks as appropriate and/or necessary, such as hot shots, deliveries, the hanging of POS, etc.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations regarding the sale and merchandising of malt beverages.

Position Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Follow safety rules and use safety equipment daily.
  • Read Julian Date Codes and Pull Date Codes on products.
  • Perform heavy and repetitive lifting with a typical weight of 25-30lbs. and maximum weight of 160lbs.
  • Muscular coordination required for moving product.
  • Good math skills.
  • Frequent reaching, standing, and walking
  • Able to pass drug and background check
