Zachry Group is seeking a Senior Engineering Recruiter to help grow our engineering organization by identifying, attracting, and hiring top engineering and design talent across the United States. This role partners closely with Engineering leadership to support critical hiring needs across multiple engineering disciplines within the power generation, refining, petrochemical, chemical, energy, and industrial construction markets.
The Senior Engineering Recruiter owns the full recruiting lifecycle for engineering and design positions, from talent mapping and candidate engagement through offer acceptance. Success in this role requires strong sourcing and networking capabilities, an understanding of engineering talent markets, and the ability to build trusted relationships with both hiring leaders and highly sought-after engineering professionals.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the full recruiting lifecycle for engineering and design positions, from sourcing strategy through offer acceptance.
  • Partner with Engineering leaders, hiring managers, and Workforce Planning to support hiring needs, workforce growth, and future talent requirements.
  • Develop and execute recruiting strategies to attract engineers, designers, technical specialists, discipline leads, engineering managers, and engineering directors.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines aligned with active hiring needs, workforce forecasts, and business growth objectives.
  • Conduct talent mapping and identify passive candidates within targeted engineering and industrial markets.
  • Develop relationships with engineering professionals and industry networks to strengthen Zachry's employment brand and talent community.
  • Use sourcing tools, talent intelligence platforms, networking events, referrals, and direct recruiting techniques to identify and engage qualified candidates.
  • Screen, assess, and present qualified candidates while providing market intelligence and hiring recommendations to business leaders.
  • Track recruiting effectiveness, pipeline health, talent market trends, and sourcing outcomes to continuously improve hiring results.

Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years recruiting engineering, design, technical, or engineering leadership talent within EPC, industrial construction, energy, power generation, refining, petrochemical, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated success recruiting engineers, designers, technical specialists, discipline leads, engineering managers, and engineering directors.
  • Experience managing the full recruiting lifecycle, including sourcing, interviewing, offer negotiation, and hiring.
  • Proven success identifying and recruiting passive candidates through direct sourcing and relationship-based recruiting strategies.
  • Strong understanding of engineering talent markets, talent mapping, and competitive recruiting strategies.
  • Experience partnering directly with engineering leaders and hiring managers to develop recruiting strategies and hiring plans.
  • Strong networking, relationship-building, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter, applicant tracking systems, sourcing tools, and talent intelligence platforms.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience recruiting engineering and design professionals within industrial EPC, industrial construction, energy, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Understanding of engineering organizational structures, project execution models, and engineering career paths.
  • Experience recruiting across multiple engineering disciplines, including process, mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, instrumentation and controls, and design.
  • Experience using labor market data and talent intelligence platforms to guide recruiting strategies.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, AIRS, CIR, CTS, or related certifications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and perform routine office-related activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and by telephone with candidates, employees, and business leaders.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to support recruiting initiatives, candidate meetings, networking activities, conferences, and business objectives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Hybrid work environment with regular collaboration in a Zachry office location.
  • Positions supported by this role are primarily office-based engineering and design positions.
  • Recruiting responsibility may support engineering organizations in Houston and the Gulf Coast region, Omaha, Downers Grove, Charlotte, and other U.S. locations.
  • Up to 25% travel for recruiting initiatives, industry conferences, networking events, training and development, and business-related activities.
  • Occasional visits to active construction, industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or project locations where personal protective equipment (PPE) may be requested.

Salary/Pay Rate:
  • In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act, the expected salary range for this Illinois position, Sr Talent Acquisition Recruiter, is between $78,900.64 and $98,600.32 annually. Actual compensation will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.

  • Sr Talent Acquisition Recruiter is eligible for participation in Zachry's Total Employee Rewards Program, which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, and other ancillary benefits. This position is also eligible for participation in the 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan.
