Custodian
Position Summary
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the company's offices, production support areas, break rooms, restrooms, warehouses, and common areas. This position performs routine cleaning, waste removal, and facility support while ensuring company standards for cleanliness, safety, and professionalism are consistently maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Facility Cleaning
  • Clean and sanitize offices, conference rooms, break rooms, restrooms, locker rooms, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect floors, furniture, and surfaces.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, doors, and glass partitions.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste.
  • Replenish restroom and break room supplies, including soap, paper towels, tissue, and cleaning products.
  • Maintain clean entrances, hallways, stairwells, and administrative areas.

Production & Warehouse Support
  • Clean designated production support areas in accordance with company procedures.
  • Sweep warehouse aisles and staging areas.
  • Remove debris, pallets, packaging materials, and non-hazardous waste from assigned areas.
  • Assist with housekeeping projects that support a safe manufacturing environment.
  • Follow department-specific cleaning requirements when working near production operations.

Facility Support
  • Set up and arrange conference rooms, training rooms, and meeting areas.
  • Assist with company events by preparing and cleaning event spaces.
  • Report maintenance issues such as plumbing leaks, damaged flooring, lighting problems, or safety hazards.
  • Assist with minor facility support tasks as assigned.

Safety & Compliance
  • Follow OSHA and company safety procedures.
  • Safely handle cleaning chemicals and equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain proper storage of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Report unsafe conditions, spills, accidents, or maintenance concerns immediately.

Equipment Operation
  • Operate vacuums, floor scrubbers, floor buffers, carpet extractors, pressure washers, and other custodial equipment as required.
  • Perform routine inspections and cleaning of custodial equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or repair needs promptly.

General Responsibilities
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • Protect confidential information encountered during cleaning activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to housekeeping and workplace organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facilities experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience operating commercial cleaning equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures.

Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, squat, climb, reach, and twist.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Push and pull cleaning carts and equipment.
  • Work around cleaning chemicals and equipment while wearing required PPE.
