Job description

A leading global financial institution is seeking an experienced Vice President โ€“ Trading Floor Production Support Lead to oversee the production support function for a mission-critical front-office trading environment. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of trading platforms supporting structured finance and fixed income products.

Working closely with Trading, Sales, Operations, Risk, and Technology teams, the successful candidate will lead incident management, drive operational excellence, mitigate technology risk, and support continuous platform enhancements within a fast-paced, business-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the production support function for front-office trading applications and related infrastructure.
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain scalable, reliable software solutions using modern engineering methodologies, programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of trading systems through proactive monitoring, alerting, and observability practices.
  • Serve as the primary technology partner for business stakeholders, coordinating timely resolution of production incidents and minimizing business impact.
  • Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, infrastructure teams, and business users to define requirements and deliver technology solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvements across production support processes, automation, platform stability, and operational efficiency.
  • Promote engineering best practices, including secure coding, code reviews, testing, and knowledge sharing.
  • Analyze complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions to improve platform resilience.
  • Assess and manage operational and technology risks while ensuring adherence to governance and control standards.
  • Build strong relationships across technology and business teams to facilitate effective communication and successful delivery.

As a Vice President, you will:

  • Contribute to technical strategy and influence technology direction within your area of responsibility.
  • Lead complex initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to engineers and support specialists.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operational processes, tooling, and platform reliability.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on technology risks, strategic initiatives, and operational readiness.
  • Balance tactical production support responsibilities with long-term platform improvements and engineering excellence.

Required Experience

  • Extensive experience supporting front-office trading systems within a capital markets environment.
  • Strong understanding of fixed income and securitized products, including loans, RMBS, CMBS, ABS, and whole loan trading.
  • Experience supporting electronic trading platforms and business-critical production applications.
  • Deep understanding of the trade lifecycle, including pricing, risk, settlements, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems.
  • Solid understanding of client-server architecture, distributed systems, scalability, and high-availability environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex production issues under strict time constraints.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience leading major incident management and driving post-incident improvements.
