Job description

Provide the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Program Office in support of the Aegis Equipped Shipboard Vessel (ASEV) program. This position will work with prime BCI on current Aegis Ashore (AA) systems engineering team.


CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES

Works independently to:

Provide ASEV Systems Engineering support to the NSWCDD Lead ASEV Lead System Engineer.

Provide a range of systems engineering and analysis activities, including system engineering support for configuration management, System Engineering Plan (SEP) reviews, test planning support, support for scenario development, review of pre-test predictions, review of performance analyses, participation in (or review of) studies and analyses, risk management, certification activities, develop briefing materials and other systems engineering tasking as directed.

Participate in ASEV Risk Management Working Group, Integrated product Teams (IPTs), Cross Product Teams (CPTs), and Technical Interface Meetings (TIMs).

Conduct engineering analysis to support design integration and resolution of emergent issues.

Provide ASEV Systems Engineering support to the NSWCDD ASEV Lead System Engineer (LSE).

Provide briefing, development, and meeting support as required.

Review ASEV System Engineering CDRLs as directed.

Provide formal responses via a consolidated CRM Form or no response post review (SYS Eng to disseminate appropriately).

Participate in ASEV Risk Management Working Group (As applicable, be prepared to brief or support questions/inquiries and provide actionable items supporting risks mitigation).

Review ASEV Systems Engineering Plan (SEP) as required (If SEP is updated by MDA annually, any updates require a new signature as it will no longer be an NSWCDD document).

Participate in ASEV Integrated Product Team (IPT) and Cross Product Team (CPT) meetings.

Provide System Engineering support for configuration management of the ACS baseline in support certification activities.


SKILLS & ABILITIES

Expert in job-related knowledge and processes, such as:

Successful candidate(s) will possess a minimum of 10-15 years of general systems engineering / combat system experience gained while on active-duty serving on DDGs, CGs, AA sites or land-based test sites working with Aegis Combat and Weapon Systems, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) and Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD). Preference is for Senior Enlisted or Limited Duty Officer (LDO). Experience may have been gained as a Combat System Coordinator (CSC), Anti-Air Warfare Coordinator (AAWC), Radar System Controller (RSC), Tactical Action Officer (TAO), Combat Information Center (CIC) Officer, Air Defense (AD) Officer, System Test Officer (STO), or Test and Evaluation (T&E) subject matter expert of US Navy programs.

Two (2) years of experience with the following Microsoft Office Suite applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project is required. Experience with AutoCAD, Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence) and PTC suite (Windchill) applications are desired. A formal degree supporting systems engineering, software engineering or significant analysis experience is a plus.

Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to perform efficiently and effectively on multiple projects under tight deadlines in and individual and team environment.

Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the Prime and customers.


EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

GED and/or equivalent years of experience

Bachelor of Science in STEM field preferred

SECURITY CLEARANCE

Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
