Position Summary:

The BI Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable reporting and analytics solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role focuses on building modern dashboards, semantic data models, and visualization layers using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or other cloud-based BI platforms.

The BI Engineer transforms complex data into intuitive and actionable insights by developing interactive dashboards, optimizing data models, and ensuring high-quality reporting standards. This role collaborates closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into impactful visual analytics solutions while applying best practices in data governance, security, usability, and performance optimization.

Additionally, the BI Engineer ensures the scalability, reliability, and accessibility of reporting platforms by implementing efficient data models, managing semantic layers, and optimizing queries to support enterprise analytics initiatives and self-service BI capabilities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reporting & Visualization Development
    Design, develop, and optimize interactive dashboards, reports, and visualization solutions that enable reliable and scalable business insights across the organization. Implement best practices in BI development including data modeling, visualization standards, and performance optimization to ensure high usability and responsiveness of reporting platforms. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align reporting solutions with business objectives and evolving analytical needs. availability and uninterrupted service delivery.   • Semantic Modeling & BI Platform Development
    Develop and maintain modern semantic data models and reporting layers using BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or other cloud-based reporting tools. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance through standardized metric definitions, data validation, and documentation practices. Contribute to BI development standards, reusable dashboards, templates, and data models to promote scalability and self-service analytics.
  • BI Platform Support & Optimization
    Maintain and enhance existing dashboards, reports, and BI assets to ensure performance, reliability, and alignment with security and governance policies. Evaluate and recommend new BI tools, visualization techniques, and reporting frameworks to continuously improve analytics capabilities. Support production reporting environments, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis while driving continuous improvement of BI processes.
  • Data Modeling & Source Integration for Analytics
    Design and implement efficient analytical data models (star schemas, semantic layers, and aggregates) that support enterprise reporting and dashboarding needs. Perform detailed analysis of source systems and datasets to ensure accurate integration with reporting platforms. Apply best practices in data modeling, metadata management, and version control to maintain consistency and transparency across BI assets.
  • Business Partnership & Insights Enablement
    Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and data teams to deliver trusted and actionable insights through well-designed dashboards and reports. Translate business questions and analytical requirements into scalable BI solutions aligned with enterprise data and analytics strategies. Contribute to the evolution of enterprise BI platforms by shaping reporting standards, governance frameworks, and long-term analytics roadmaps.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6-8 years of experience delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing business intelligence and analytics solutions that enable enterprise reporting and data-driven decision-making.
  • 5+ years designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise BI dashboards, semantic data models, and reporting platforms using modern tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, MicroStrategy, or similar cloud-based analytics technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience working with data warehousing, data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling), and data integration to support reporting, analytics, and self-service BI initiatives across large-scale projects.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building interactive dashboards, advanced visualizations, and performance-optimized reports while ensuring data accuracy, governance, and standardized business metrics.
  • 5+ years leading or mentoring BI developers, analysts, or cross-functional analytics teams, driving best practices in dashboard design, reporting standards, and BI platform governance.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proven ability to partner with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analytics teams to translate complex business requirements into intuitive, impactful visual insights that support strategic decision-making.
