Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs all functions of the CT Technologist.
  • Rotation through daily workflow, which includes organizing the day, patients, orders, labs and making sure the schedule for the next day, is completed.
  • Reviews patient order, questionnaire form and labs if required on all patients prior to scanning.
  • Competent in venipuncture.
  • Competent in Point of Care Testing.
  • Responsible for performing all CT exams including drainages and biopsies.
  • Properly identifies the patients prior to scanning.
  • Prepares patients for exams ordered and insures patient safety at all times.
  • Follows departmental protocols for each exam to obtain a high quality exam with the lowest possible dose.
  • Works with manager to implement changes made to workflow or other department changes needed.
  • Scans patients according to protocols to provide high quality exams.
  • Assists radiologist during procedures as required.
  • Reviews exams after scanning prior to sending to PACS for image quality and completeness.
  • Documentation of contrast allergies and extravasations.
  • Reviews exams with Radiologist as necessary, contributing technical and professional knowledge.
  • Responds appropriately to medical emergencies and displays ability to function effectively and appropriately in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with patients, patient’s families, staff, physicians and medical office personnel.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of what constitutes appropriate clinical history for each CT exam.
  • Follows all departmental and hospital policies and procedures as required.
  • Practices ALARA, is aware of patient CT Dose. Image wisely/Image Gently required.
  • Checks patient tracker before imagining for cancellations.
  • Stocks and cleans rooms.
  • Maintains Joint Commission readiness in the department. Follows ACR Accreditation regulations, and all other regulatory bodies.
  • Annual competencies completed.
  • Responsible for providing 2 cycles of CEU’s to manager for licensure.
  • Participates in Lung Screening program (LCSR), documentation, entering data into website.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Two years of CT experience preferred
  • Will consider training R.T. (R) with didactic training from an education institution, such as ASRT

Education Required

  • Graduate of AMA-approved Radiology Technology Program.

Registration/Certification

  • R.T. (R) (ARRT)
  • Current Massachusetts license, Radiography
  • American Heart Assoc. BLS certification
  • Registration as CT Technologist and MA License within 1 year of hire

Physical/Environmental Requirements

This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, and standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.

Pay Range:

$31.00 - $54.80

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.  The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
