  • Career and Technical Institute Instructor for Plumbing Apprenticeship will report directly to the Workforce Training and Continuing Education Program Supervisor and will deliver high-quality classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction. Instruction is provided using an approved curriculum and industry-relevant training materials to prepare students for advancement within the Plumbing industry.

Job Description
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with the approved curriculum on a daily basis.
  • Develop lesson plans that support student learning outcomes and workforce readiness.
  • Organize and maintain instructional materials, tools, equipment, and supply inventories.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, including grading and attendance tracking.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and constructive feedback on student performance, behavior and participations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable industry standards, laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, and integrate this knowledge into daily instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff regarding student behavior and instructional progress.
  • Model professionalism, reliability, and respect to contribute to a positive school culture.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficient written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, complete student evaluations and document student progress.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for classroom instruction and student engagement.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Field-related license/certification including, but not limited to, OSHA 10 certification.
  • Journeyperson-level plumbing experience, New Jersey Master Plumber License, or demonstrated successful completion of a registered plumbing apprenticeship (including a union apprenticeship) is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This position requires mobility throughout the campus.
  • Dexterity in working with computers is mandatory.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while teaching in classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move electrical-related equipment or training materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools and training equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb and reach when demonstrating equipment installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
