This position is not a remote position and requires candidates to reside within commuting distance to downtown New Orleans.
Jo b Su mm a ry:
The Cost Control Specialist is responsible for supporting project teams by performing cost control activities for a portfolio of large projects. Responsibilities will include validating and reporting project costs, incorporating trends or approved changes, and providing financial forecasts for assigned projects.
Jo b Duti e s an d R e s pon si b i l iti e s:
  • Work with all relevant project and discipline personnel to prepare project cost expectations and tracking tools;
  • Understand all relevant project documents pertaining to the preparation of cost control plans and reports;
  • Ensuring the integrity of accounting information and providing analytical services for utility projects;
  • Monitoring, maintaining, and completing key reports and providing analytical functions towards capital projects utilizing data and other critical deliverables;
  • Collecting, evaluating, and reporting Capital budget, project cost, work order closings and variance reporting;
  • Initiate, monitor, maintain and close out of capital work orders;
  • Create and analyze capital budgets, financial forecasts, reporting of actual financial results and variance explanations;
  • Work with accounting on reconciling invoices;
  • Assists in the preparation of accruals;
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Q ua lif i c a ti on s ( Kno wl e d g e , S ki l ls a n d Abi l i t i e s):
  • Requires a High-School Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Ten (10) years of experience as a project cost analyst or similar role
  • Requires a working knowledge of cost control software and the ability to learn new software platforms quickly
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office software (Word, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Have attention to detail
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels
  • Availability and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Availability and ability to travel to client sites on occasion
  • Availability and ability to work overtime as needed based on project

Wo rking C ond iti on s:
  • Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel
  • May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis to obtain project field data or attend project meetings
  • Field duties may require outdoor work in a plant, facility or terminal environment
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection
  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes
