Hexagon's Autonomous Solutions business area is looking for an Intermediate Systems Engineer to join our high-tech engineering and manufacturing company that is committed to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.  Reporting to the Director of Positioning Services, this role will be of interest to someone with planning and organizational skills to work on diverse positioning services projects.

Location: Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world. This position is based in Calgary, AB. 


As a Systems Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the technical aspects of projects in collaboration with the Chief Engineer, Project Manager and a team of subject matter experts
  • Evaluating customer requirements and operational use cases to define and decompose system functional and performance requirements
  • Developing and designing system architecture trade-off studies
  • Assessing cross domain dependencies, including the simulation and modelling of system components to allow data-driven decisions for optimal system performance
  • Continuously evaluating technical risk within the project and proactively working with the team to mitigate
  • Systems integration planning and coordination
  • Participate in system verification and validation (V&V) activities, ensuring system requirements are fully verified through testing, analysis, inspection, and demonstration.
  • Ensuring compliance of the design with the system requirements, standards and specifications while balancing competing business requirements such as cost and time to market
  • Completing system and product analyses for reliability, maintainability, testability, usability, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, affordability, safety, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties

Must-Have:

  • Systems Engineering expertise applied to complex technical solutions
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, science or engineering with 3+ years in a systems engineering related role

  • General knowledge of GNSS technologies, or digital communication protocols
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (UML, SysML) and related tools, such as Enterprise Architect (EA)
  • Expertise with one or more requirements management tools, such as Polarion or DOORS
  • Experience working in development environments that follow standards such as ISO-16949, ASPICE, etc.
