Rincon Research Corporation seeks a self-starting individual for a full-time security position at its Chantilly, Virginia office. The security position will primarily be focused on providing Information System Security Officer (ISSO) support for local and networked systems while also providing local security support for other roles as needed. The position will interface with the office engineers, visitors, system administrators, security staff, program managers, and local vendors and inspectors. This position requires an individual with good communication skills and the ability to organize tasks and data in a logical manner.

What are the primary responsibilities for the Information System Security Officer position?

  • Work with the RRC Cybersecurity team to provide ISSO support to new and existing systems
  • Ensure accredited systems are operated, maintained, and updated according to security policies, controls, and documentation
  • Create and Maintain information assurance documentation including System Security Plans and Body of Evidence (BoE)
  • Perform Continuous Monitoring and reporting of identified security controls including audit log reviews, system compliance assessments, vulnerability scans, and account activity for privileged and general users.
  • Review and approve proposed changes to system baseline configurations, enforce standard configuration management practices, and perform updates to the SSP documentation
  • Work closely with the Information System Security Manager through regular briefings, meetings, and discussions concerning information security
  • Recommend cybersecurity solutions to resolve system security requirements, program needs, mitigations, processes, and procedures
  • Assist with security planning, awareness training, risk analysis, risk management, vulnerability management, investigations, incident response, and configuration management
  • Perform Software & Hardware Evaluations
  • Perform Data Transfers
  • Collaborate with the RRC Cyber Security team and System Admins to provide IA support to new and existing systems
  • Provide Security Help Desk support to include: reviewing, approving, and assigning tickets
  • Assist in the application and enforcement of security policies
  • Physical Security Support to include:
    • Maintain Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) to include: programming, testing, coordinating, user training, and response
    • Maintain Access Control Systems (ACS) to include: badging, reports, user training, and maintenance
    • Assist with building camera systems, monitoring, intercoms, and guard coordination
    • Assist with Physical Security inspections, testing, and construction
    • Assist with Physical Security Documentation and approvals
    • Escorting personnel in secure areas
  • Program Security Support to include:
    • Perform duties related to the role of Facility Security Officer (FSO) Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO)/Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO).
    • Provide Security briefings and training
    • Support government inspections and self-assessments
    • Ensure corporation is compliant with directives, regulations, company policy, and security operating procedures.
    • Investigate security incidents and violations relating to classified programs.
    • Provide local Visitor Control and meeting support
    • Create, scan, maintain, and organize security documentation, tracking, and database information
  • Assist in other areas of security as needed
  • Provide local general support as needed to include: facilities, logistics, vendor coordination, and IT assistance


What required background will make you successful?

  • 1-3 years of ISSO and/or System Administration experience
  • Experience in Cybersecurity including assessments, accreditations, and continuous monitoring.
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux systems and commands.
  • Ability to interface with customers, programs, visitors, and engineers
  • Ability to collaborate remotely with the RRC security team and provide local support for multiple security roles
  • Must have a current favorably adjudicated T5 / T5R and eligibility for a TS//SCI clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD 8570 IAM Level 1 Certification or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED


Preferred skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience working in Industrial Security
  • Active DoD 8570 Certification (Security + or equivalent)
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance with current SSBI
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Risk Management Framework and ATO documentation
  • Experience with Security tools such as Splunk, Nessus, and SCC
  • Experience with NIST 800-53 and 800-171 security controls
  • Experience with system hardening using DISA STIGs

Where is the position located?

This position is located at our Chantilly, VA office.

*The likely salary range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
