In the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) Center, we work across the entire Systems Engineering lifecycle from Concept Development, Architecture, Requirements Development, Systems Design, Integration & Test, Platform Integration, Flight Test, Deployment, and Sustainment. 

Our center is seeking Senior Engineers who will focus on Hardware/Software Integration, Verification, Flight Test, and Platform Integration.  In this evolving role you will be hands-on, supporting hardware buildups, hardware and software integration, Design Verification Tests, Environmental Tests, Qualification Tests, and the associated data analysis ultimately leading to the successful completion of test events. 

This team focuses on putting our systems together, testing them in the lab/field, measuring and analyzing performance, and making sure our products work the first time and every time.  To accomplish this, we develop plans and procedures, troubleshoot and evaluate system functions, conduct tests, analyze data, and work together with our customers.

The SETC organization based in Tucson, Arizona supports Effector programs ranging from the seabed to space, including but not limited to Ship Launched Effectors like Standard Missile® and Tomahawk®, Surface Launched Effectors like Javelin® and Coyote®, Air Launched Effectors like AMRAAM® and StormBreaker®, Advanced Technologies like Hypersonics, and space solutions.

What You Will Do

Perform integration, verification, and testing of Effector systems to ensure the system under test performs according to specifications and/or requirements.  You will perform one or more of the following:

  • Support Testing Efforts: Develop and implement test plans, procedures, integration, and verification documentation in both simulated and real-world environments and then perform and/or execute the test

  • Hardware Buildup and Integration: Support the unique buildup of test assets which includes understanding the requirements, physically completing the build, documenting the build, and certifying the unit is ready for the next stage

  • Testing: Plan and execute tests at different levels of hardware builds (from Circuit Card Assemblies to final product).  Tests include but are not limited to Electromagnetic Interference, Live Battery Tests, RF Tests, electrical operational testing, physical properties such as Weight, Center of Gravity, Thermal, and Vibration

  • Platform Integration: Plan and execute the integration efforts of Effector Systems with customer subsystems and/or launch platforms in the lab or in the field to include a wide variety of military aircraft, ships, and ground-based launchers

  • Flight Tests: Plan and execute Test Missions which require robust test planning, logistics, safety, security, preparing the test asset, telemetry monitoring, all while continuously working with the customer, military, and test range

  • Troubleshoot and Analyze: Identify and resolve hardware, software, and system issues through detailed data analysis and debugging along with supporting failure reporting, analysis, corrective action and/or fault tree analysis

  • Perform Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data to ensure system performance and provide detailed reports of the results 

  • Document and Communicate: Create/modify documentation in support of reviews associated with formal testing, which may include Test Readiness Review (TRR), Consent to Ship (CTS), and Test Data Review (TDR) packages

  • Collaborate: Interface and coordinate across the different company functions and with the customers, suppliers, and/or sub-contractors

  • Lead: Lead a small team in integration and test activities

  • Support Missions: Support occasional travel to conduct tests at test sites, vendor facilities, and customer locations as needed, typically one- or two-week durations, up to 25% of the year

Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 8 (five) years of relevant experience

  • Experience in Systems integration and test in a lab or field environment

  • Planning or executing Platform Integration or Flight Test Mission

  • Experience collecting and evaluating data to diagnose and solve technical issues

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Leadership: Experience leading teams in integration and test activities

  • Military platforms: Experience working on military platforms, such as aircraft, ship-based platforms, and ground-based platforms

  • Technical documentation: Experience generating technical documentation such as trade studies, test plans, test procedures, or technical reports

  • Presentations: Experience managing and presenting technical data to stakeholders and customer communities in design reviews and technical interchange meetings

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
