Systems Integration Architect information

What is a systems integration architect?

A Systems Integration Architect is an IT professional responsible for designing and implementing solutions that enable different software applications, systems, or platforms to work together seamlessly. They analyze business requirements, select appropriate technologies, and create detailed integration architectures to ensure data flows smoothly between systems. Their role often involves working closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure all components of an organization's IT environment are connected and operate efficiently. Systems Integration Architects play a critical role in digital transformation and modernization projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a systems integration architect?

To thrive as a Systems Integration Architect, you need deep expertise in systems architecture, integration methodologies, and software engineering, along with a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with integration platforms (such as MuleSoft or Dell Boomi), APIs, cloud services, and relevant certifications (like TOGAF or AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is crucial. Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills help you collaborate across teams and translate business needs into technical solutions. These capabilities ensure seamless connectivity, scalability, and business alignment of complex technology ecosystems.

What are some common challenges faced by systems integration architects during large-scale integration projects?

Systems Integration Architects often encounter challenges such as managing complex dependencies among diverse systems, ensuring interoperability between legacy and modern platforms, and maintaining data consistency during integrations. Coordinating with multiple stakeholders—such as developers, business analysts, and project managers—can also be demanding, as requirements may evolve throughout the project lifecycle. Proactively addressing potential security risks and ensuring compliance with organizational standards are additional key aspects of the role.

Job description

About Prime

Introducing Prime Controls, L.P.

Established in 2004, Prime Controls, L.P. is a family-owned Systems Integration and I&C Construction firm dedicated to meeting clients' industrial automation and control requirements. As a Main Automation Contractor, we offer comprehensive solutions, supported by our size, expertise, and extensive experience. With a professional team of 1000+ employees, Prime Controls serves customers nationwide from our Dallas, Texas headquarters and offices throughout the United States. Our mission is to deliver the highest quality professional services while prioritizing our employees' well-being and fostering an exceptional workplace environment.

OverviewPosition Overview

Prime Controls is growing fast - and our technology needs are growing with us. We're looking for an Enterprise Integration Analyst to join the Business Technology Group and help connect the systems, data, and processes that keep our business running. This is a connector role: part business analyst, part integration specialist, part technical problem-solver. You'll work across departments, platforms, and teams to make sure our enterprise applications talk to each other, our processes are documented and scalable, and the technology we build actually gets supported after launch.

The ideal candidate can translate between business stakeholders and technical teams, spot automation opportunities, drive user acceptance testing, and bring structure to how we evaluate, implement, and sustain new technology solutions. If you thrive at the intersection of business and technology - and want to make a real impact at a company that's building something - this role is for you.

What You Will Do

Systems Integration & Application Support

  • Support integration efforts across enterprise applications including ERP/MRP, HRIS, Microsoft 365, and other core business platforms.
  • Analyze data flows, system handoffs, and integration points to identify gaps, redundancies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with automation, scripting, and lightweight business tools that improve efficiency, standardization, and scalability across teams.
  • Evaluate new technology requests for business value, integration requirements, scalability, duration of need, and long-term supportability.

Business Analysis & Requirements

  • Partner with business stakeholders across departments to gather requirements, document workflows, and translate needs into clear technical specifications.
  • Map current and future-state processes, identify integration dependencies, and develop solution plans that are practical and sustainable.
  • Keep requirements, decisions, open items, and follow-up work organized so nothing falls through the cracks between business and IT.

Testing, Documentation & Governance

  • Lead and support user acceptance testing efforts - building test plans, coordinating stakeholder participation, tracking issues, and validating outcomes.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for integrations, workflows, system configurations, data flows, and support procedures.
  • Help strengthen governance standards around system changes, platform ownership, access models, and ongoing sustainment expectations.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work across business teams, IT, vendors, and platform owners to move solutions from concept through implementation and into ongoing support.
  • Serve as a bridge between business and technical resources - keeping communication clear, timelines realistic, and delivery accountable.
  • Support platform owners and end users through system changes, new rollouts, and continuous improvement efforts.
What You Will Bring

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in business systems analysis, enterprise applications, integration, technical support, or a closely related role.
  • Working knowledge of APIs, data flows, system integrations, access models, and enterprise application concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to document business requirements, workflows, testing scenarios, and process changes clearly and completely.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills - comfortable working with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, follow through on commitments, and keep projects moving in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with Power Automate, Power Apps, PowerShell, Python, SQL, Excel-based automation, or similar low-code/scripting tools.
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365 enablement, identity and access concepts, or enterprise platform administration.
  • Experience supporting ERP, MRP, HRIS, construction technology, engineering, safety, or training platforms.
  • Familiarity with user acceptance testing methodologies, issue tracking systems, or change management practices.
  • Background in construction, engineering, manufacturing, specialty contracting, or other project-based industries is a strong plus.
