Job Description:
D2 Government Solutions is looking to hire a Systems Engineering Architect to support AWS Resiliency and Recovery. The qualified candidate will work hand-in-hand with technical and program management leadership along with various external stakeholders, to help design and implement AWS Resiliency and Recovery capabilities including cross-AZ recovery procedures, infrastructure automation, and automated failover orchestration. This position will require experience across multiple System Engineering and architecture domains with a focus on standing up and maintaining cloud environments, and the deployment of custom code, COTS, and GOTS to those environments with a Geospatial focus.
Responsibilities:
This position involves systems engineering activities that support building and delivering new and innovative systems to implement analytics, exploitation, production and dissemination using web, remote desktop, and cloud technologies.
  • Analyze current system(s) architecture as well as service and systems dependencies from a full-stack perspective (Platform, Service, Code and Server) perspective
  • Identify and communicate use cases and implementation options where existing system availability and resiliency can be improved
  • Improve mission assurance, reduce operational risk, and enhance continuity of operations during AWS infrastructure disruptions.
  • Collaborate with other program technical leadership on the system architecture roadmap and backlog aligned to customerโ€™s technology strategy and vision.
  • Decompose requirements, use cases, and need statements into epics and features with clearly defined acceptance criteria that will be assigned to agile development teams
  • Assist in designing and documenting solutions to enhance ICAM service adoption throughout the customer agency
  • Execute analysis of alternatives (AoA) and prototypes to determine the design of new system features and capabilities, then author white papers on your findings
  • Manage the system requirements and maintain requirements and interface control documents
  • Create and communicate design artifacts to the team to ensure applications and services are built to support the business and architecture objectives
  • Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals, and strategies to executive management
Core Qualifications:
  • Requires BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 + years of prior relevant experience; OR 4 years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Must currently possess an active Top Secret security clearance, with ability to obtain SCI and CI Poly
  • Experience optimizing and managing AWS/cloud infrastructure cost including storage, compute, and database
  • Experience with Windows and Linux
  • Direct experience with AWS core architecture and services
  • Experience/background knowledge of DevOps COTS capabilities and implementation to Cloud
  • Experience with System (hardware, software and networking) Design and Architecture.
  • Understanding of agile SW development methodologies
  • Experience developing a backlog and technical roadmap
  • Experience with disaster recovery (ITDR) and data retention
  • Experience as a systems engineer or architect
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience briefing stakeholders at all levels
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An active TS/SCI with a Polygraph
  • DD8570 compliance
  • Experience with technologies such as WMS, WFS, KML
  • Experience with AWS architecture best practices, resiliency capabilities and services
  • Experience with AWS EKS
  • Experience writing, maintaining, and describing architecture diagrams
  • Experience optimizing Software deployments and reducing downtime, for example implementing a blue/green strategy
  • Technical certifications including Microsoft and/or AWS
  • Direct experience with DevOps deployments to cloud environments GITLAB
