Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Software Reliability Systems Engineering Manager 2. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel Program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You'll Get To Do:
Candidate will be responsible to manage a motivated team of Reliability and Maintainability engineers within a matrixed functional organization, ensuring integration and collaboration across design and manufacturing teams under an overarching Systems Engineering framework. Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (DOE) constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product software reliability. Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives. May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data. As a section manager you will manage a team of individual contributors, these individuals may support one or more programs within SDS.
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
  • - Direct supervision/management of the Software Reliability & Condition Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) staff
  • - Providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies
  • - Provide performance feedback and salary reviews, training, mentoring, and coaching to your employees
  • - Planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid-size technical services-type contract
  • - Develop, and document Software Specifications and Verification Methodology and ensure all reliability requirements are met
  • Work with the Senior RAM-C/CBM+ Manager and leads in establishing personal program and functional goals as well as performing performance evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates
  • Coach, support, train, and motivate team members to ensure a high level of performance
  • Collaborate with peers and direct management in resource planning and hiring activities
  • Responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs
  • Conditioned Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) supporting effort to optimize scheduled maintenance, thereby reducing Lifecycle Cost (LCC)
  • Develop CBM+ architecture and tool development
  • Conditioned Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) is an effort to utilize predictive maintenance to align unscheduled maintenance with scheduled maintenance, thereby reducing Lifecycle Cost (LCC).
  • CBM+ capability involves Model-Based Reasoning (MBR) for diagnostic and prognostic capabilities, including Remaining Useful Life (RUL) calculations. Prognostic Models can be one of the following:

• Physics-Based Model(s)
• Data-Driven Machine Learning (ML) Model(s)
• Hybrid Model(s)
  • -Embed prognostic and diagnostic capabilities/technologies for the Weapon System

The ideal candidate is capable of creating and managing high performing teams while providing technical, administrative and management expertise in the day-to-day activities required to successfully execute complex engineering programs. Candidate will be self-motivated, work under general direction, and work well in teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is essential. This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate's time.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 8 years of related experience, or 6 years with Masters
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
  • 2 years experience in at least one of the following disciplines: Software Design/Analysis or Prognostic Model development

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Business, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) or related discipline with 6 years of relatable work experience
  • 2+ years of management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent efforts
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and organization skills in both independent and team environments
  • Experience leading and motivating a team, establishing strong cross-organizational relationships, and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Experience building relationships with customers within DOW/DOD organizations
  • In depth Aerospace / ICBM software maintenance experience
  • Knowledge in design of mechanical and electrical ICBM subsystems
  • Proficiency in the following disciplines: Software Design/Analysis, Prognostic Model development, Reliability
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience including the use and application of Cameo, SysML, or similar modeling tool
  • Experience with reliability engineering including predictive assessments, FMEA/FMECA development, reliability centered design, use of Reliasoft/MADe/other reliability modeling tools and/or use of reliability engineering in a digital design environment
  • Understanding and experience using Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience managing both internal and external personnel and teams to include subcontractors and Internal Work Orders (IWO)
  • Experience with common NG tools such as CPLM/Teamcenter/Workday/Concur/SAP
  • Experience with Configuration Management (CM)/Data Management (DM) practices and tools
  • Special Program Access
  • Ability to obtain DoD Top-Secret Clearance
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills - proven ability to effectively communicate with management and individual contributors

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
