Job description

Chief Mechanical Engineering Manager - furnace OEM
Established high tech thermal processing equipment builder in search of an experienced engineering manager to lead a team of 10 in a hands-on role that requires a strong technical foundation, management skills, and ability to drive innovation.
Requirements:
  • Graduated from an undergraduate engineering curriculum which is accredited by ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) or has eight years of progressive experience in engineering work and knowledge, skill and education approximating that attained through graduation from an approved engineering curriculum.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in all aspects of mechanical engineering for a manufacturing concern.
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based PCs.
  • in the use of a 3D CAD system (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and a working knowledge of the use of Autodesk AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel for engineering related work.
  • Experience with a PDM (Product Data Management) package (Autodesk Vault preferred)
  • A detailed knowledge of the use, implementation, and management of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software. (Acumatica preferred)
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and detail equipment, fabrications, and systems in the manufacture of vacuum furnaces including hot zones, chambers, gas quench systems, vacuum pumping systems, water cooling systems, pneumatic systems, partial pressure systems and other sub-assemblies.
  • Create CAD drawings and bills of materials and specify appropriate materials to meet quality and production objectives.
  • Check designs, drawings and make engineering calculations to meet applicable specifications and codes.
  • Assist in the development of vacuum furnace operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Assist sales in the creation of estimates and proposals and in providing technical support of customer's problems.
  • Assist purchasing in writing accurate and complete requisitions for the purchase of materials and services, meet with vendors, research materials, and qualify suppliers.
  • Direct oversight and supervision of all mechanical engineers/designers and refractory engineers/designers to ensure work assignments meet production schedules.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement engineering operating procedures to ensure smooth operation of the engineering function within the company.
  • Apply a working knowledge of engineering codes and standards that affect component specification, performance, operation, and safety of vacuum furnaces such as ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII Div 1, NFPA 86, OSHA and ANSI/ASME/AMS standards.
