Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join MPW Industrial Water and help design, program, test, commission, and improve electrical power and control systems for industrial water treatment solutions. You’ll work on custom systems that combine electrical design, automation, instrumentation, industrial networking, and real-world field commissioning.

This role is responsible for owning assigned electrical and controls engineering deliverables, developing design concepts from project requirements, and helping drive projects from design through startup while collaborating with engineering, fabrication, operations, field service, vendors, and customers.

What You’ll Bring

·        Strong technical knowledge of electrical engineering, automation, PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, industrial networks, and control system design.

·        Practical problem-solving skills with the ability to develop safe, reliable, and maintainable solutions for industrial systems.

·        Strong organization and communication skills to manage multiple projects, priorities, deliverables, and customer expectations.

·        A safety-first mindset with a commitment to engineering standards, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

·        A proactive, customer-focused approach with the ability to support technical decisions and mentor less-experienced team members.

What You’ll Do

·        Lead assigned electrical and controls engineering projects from concept through design, testing, commissioning, and implementation.

·        Develop high-level electrical and controls design concepts based on sales information, project requirements, control narratives, and P&IDs.

·        Design electrical power distribution systems, including 480VAC three-phase power and low-voltage control power applications.

·        Develop control system architecture, including PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, safety systems, industrial networks, and communication systems.

·        Select electrical components, create control panel layouts, develop CAD documentation, and support panel assembly and system integration.

·        Develop, modify, validate, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs using MPW programming standards and established engineering practices.

·        Create control logic for new systems from control narratives, P&IDs, electrical drawings, project requirements, and MPW standards.

·        Review and validate electrical designs, control programs, and system documentation from other team members for compliance with company standards and industry best practices.

·        Develop and maintain testing procedures, quality control documentation, and functional verification standards for complex equipment.

·        Lead or support system testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and functional verification to ensure equipment operates as designed.

·        Communicate project progress, testing status, technical updates, risks, and action items with engineering, operations, leadership, vendors, and customers.

·        Manage assigned project priorities, schedules, deliverables, and technical expectations across multiple active projects.

·        Support the training and development of engineering team members as needed.

·        Travel to customer facilities and field service locations as needed to support system startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical support.

What You’ll Need

·        Typically requires 3+ years of relevant electrical, controls, automation, or systems engineering experience. Equivalent combinations of education and hands-on technical experience may be considered.

·        Technical education or hands-on experience in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Automation, Controls, or a closely related field preferred.

·        Practical experience designing industrial power and control systems, including Allen-Bradley PLC platforms; FactoryTalk experience preferred.

·        Working knowledge of Ethernet/IP industrial networking, AutoCAD drafting, and National Electrical Code requirements.

·        Ability to develop, troubleshoot, and support PLC/HMI programs, electrical drawings, control narratives, P&IDs, and system documentation.

·        Ability to manage multiple projects while communicating effectively with internal teams, customers, vendors, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

  • ·        Ability to travel to customer and field service locations as needed, including up to approximately 60 overnight stays annually, and provide occasional support outside traditional business hours as required for a 24/7 service operation.
