Electrical Engineering Intern - Summer 2027
Location: Miamisburg, OH (Onsite)

Internship Overview

Your Impact
As an Electrical Product Engineer Intern, you will support the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of Accelevation’s electrical power distribution products, including:
  • UL 891 Switchboards
  • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
  • Remote Power Panels (RPPs)
  • Automatic and Manual Transfer Switch Systems
In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting mission-critical power infrastructure solutions used in some of the world's most demanding environments. Working alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, you will contribute to product innovation, engineering documentation, testing, manufacturing support, and quality initiatives.
This internship provides a unique opportunity to develop technical expertise in electrical power systems while gaining real-world experience in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and development of low-voltage power distribution equipment and electrical assemblies
  • Support the creation and maintenance of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering documentation
  • Participate in product testing, validation, troubleshooting, and performance analysis activities
  • Assist engineering teams with design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to address production challenges and improve product quality and efficiency
  • Support compliance efforts related to UL, NEC, NEMA, and other applicable industry standards
  • Conduct engineering research, data analysis, and technical evaluations to support product enhancements and new product development
  • Help identify opportunities to improve product reliability, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to product or process issues
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout the product development lifecycle

Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Completed at least three years of undergraduate study prior to the internship
  • Strong academic performance and demonstrated interest in electrical power systems, power distribution, or product engineering
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within team environments
  • Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with electrical design or CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, control circuits, and power distribution systems
  • Exposure to NEC, UL, IEEE, NEMA, or related industry standards
  • Experience through engineering projects, research, laboratory work, design teams, or prior internships
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering documentation

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Employees must be able to communicate effectively and work in both office and manufacturing environments. This role requires frequent interaction with engineering teams, production personnel, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, reviewing technical documentation, and utilizing computers and engineering software. Employees may occasionally lift equipment, components, or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
