Job description

The Principal Systems Engineer I – Autonomy Systems will be responsible for leading engineering and/or industry teams to meet the technical objectives of systems programs.

SSCI focuses on the creation of AI/ML enabled capabilities to command, control, communicate with, and manage composable collections of intelligent agents, smart sensors, and autonomous platforms across all domains.

*Please be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain a US DOD security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead engineering and/or industry teams to meet technical objectives of systems programs of >$5M scope, demonstrating SSCI technology solutions at TRL 6 or higher.
  • Contribute significantly to the successful capture of several mid-sized and large programs in AI, autonomy, or related advanced technology areas.
  • Lead autonomy system architecture, software and hardware integration, test and evaluation, demonstration and delivery of operationally relevant systems to customers.
  • Define and document system requirements, interfaces, and performance metrics.
  • Lead development of and implement Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction plans.
  • Apply MBSE processes and integrate M+S and Digital Engineering toolchains and practices for autonomy systems agile development.
  • Develop, maintain, and facilitate compliance with a Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), for systems engineering and technical project management.
  • This role may require the ability to sit or stand at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • May be required to push/pull/lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active US DOD Security Clearance.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related fields, with 10+ progressive systems engineering and technical leadership experience, or Master’s degree and 8+ years of related experience or demonstrated expertise in a critical technology area.
  • Prior experience working with autonomy systems and software architecture.
  • Experience leading advanced modeling and simulation efforts using AFSIM and MBSE using Cameo/MagicDraw.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science degree or PhD
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify and creatively solve complex problems
  • Ability to execute logical reasoning and decision-making skills.
