Job description

Systems Engineer
The Systems Engineer works on on-premise server and cloud related projects, both for new and existing infrastructures. Working closely with the managing consultant, project plans are designed and implemented with a high degree of quality and with excellent communication to all stakeholders. From installing new hosts and storage, implementing Intune across various platforms, all the way to migrating on-premise infrastructure to Azure/AWS, the Systems Engineer provides a vital function in support of the excellent service provided to our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy complex solutions involving a variety of technologies, including VMware, Windows Server, Linux, Azure, AWS, and Microsoft 365 technologies (Entra, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Intune, etc).
  • Own the technical implementation of complex solutions across on-premise and cloud environments, from initial design through production deployment.
  • Manage, maintain, and upgrade existing on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Automate existing manual procedures to increase efficiency.
  • Regularly communicate project status to client contacts and managers.
  • Work with internal resources to understand client business processes and goals and recommend technology solutions to improve those processes or achieve those goals.

Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years as a system administrator/engineer, cloud administrator/engineer or equivalent role.
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Windows server environments, including configuration and administration of Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Strong knowledge in Azure and AWS cloud infrastructure, including configuration and administration.
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft 365 technologies (Exchange Online, Conditional Access, Intune, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Moderate knowledge in Linux, including configuration and administration.
  • Strong knowledge in scripting and automation, including Powershell and Python.
  • Moderate knowledge of server and storage hardware.
  • Basic networking knowledge - DNS, DHCP, VLANs
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to interface professionally with clients.
  • Ability to see problems through to resolution and communicate progress and results to clients and management.
  • Physically capable of picking up and moving computer hardware up to 50 lbs.
  • Hybrid role with remote work days. Candidates must reside in Austin, TX or the surrounding area, as regular travel to local client sites is expected.
